Le Chianti — Restaurant in Istres

We went here for lunch during a long layover between two flights. Only a 10 minute taxi journey from Marseilles airport and up into the mountains, this restaurant is idyllic and charming. It is quiet on the outside but the atmosphere, set by the most wonderful host and staff, is authentic and infectious.

Located on a tiny road most of the way up the hill/mountain, you can walk around and discover the top end of the “old village” before or after eating.

We both had steak and fries - fantastic food - and the tiramisu was mouth-wateringly good. We had drinks each and the total bill (bearing mind these were proper steaks) was €32?!?! Incredible value and somewhere I’d love to visit...

My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant when we were staying near MRS on our way back home. We were so impressed with the food, and our hosts (including Tyson the K9), that we came back the next night as well. The owners were SUPER hospitable; they brought out an iPad so we could use google translate to help aid the communication and organized a ride back to our hotel for us when Uber drivers wouldn't leave their living rooms to come pick us up because there was a huge soccer match going on. Une belle surprise pour mon anniversaire que de ramener le restaurant dans son salon. Une dégustation relevant les papilles bien trop longtemps confinées. Je n’étais pas fan a l’idée et bien je me trompais. Une satisfaction qui plus est de soutenir nos commerçants du coin qui en ont besoin et en auront besoin pendant un bon moment. Alors n’hésitez pas, commandez, vous êtes livré et juste après dégustez. Merci pour ce repas absolument délicieux qui me fait rappeler ce que le gouvernement nous interdit de profiter de ce plaisir primaire absolument indispensable. Le 20 sur 20 n’existe pas et toute critique mesurée mérite son point négatif minim qu’il soit, le vin rouge perd de son intérêt parce que trop froid 😉 A...
