La Grèce — Restaurant in L'Haÿ-les-Roses

This very good Greek restaurant suffers slightly from its location, inside a shipping center, just in front of a hyper market. Bonjour l'ambiance.

Fortunately, the food is much better than it's atmosphere. I had a 3-course meal for a little over $30 (which I found only a little steep as concerns the quality/price ratio).

My appetizer was a mixed platter of tarama, tzatziki, eggplant caviar, hummus, and a dolma, served with pita bread (they were out of blindlis). The only thing better then the quantity was the quality. Each spread was homemade and flavorful; the eggplant caviar was a standout.

My main course was the lamb shish kebab with French fries and a salad. The lamb itself was succulent and cooked perfectly, again in generous quantity, but I was a bit disappointed by the fries which were no doubt frozen and meant to be served with a gyro sandwich to go rather than a sit-down meal.

For dessert, I had the panna cotta with salted caramel, also homemade. Although it was tasty, I thought the consistency was a little runnier than I'm used to, but still good.

Despite the location being underwhelming, the service was quick and friendly. I'll for sure...

Certes, le seul kebab de la galerie marchande mais il est bon. Un bon kebab bien junkfood après les courses à carouf, ça dépanne bien et évite toute vaisselle at home.

Sur place ou à emporter, c'est au choix mais pas le même tarif (pour le kebab en tout cas). 5€ le kebab (+ frites) à emporter, c'est moins cher que la majorité des kebabs parisiens.

Je vous recommande la galette pita (la crêpe quoi) qui est plus pratique à tenir que le pain grec classique. De plus elle est plus facile à digérer. La viande est cuite à la broche. Coupée en fines lamelles, c'est un plaisir de croquer dedans. Ce n'est pas diététique mais c'est si bon.

Le service est correct. Vendeurs très sympas mais pas physionomistes du tout ou plutôt pas de mémoire. J'ai beau toujours prendre le même sandwich grec avec la même sauce samouraï à chaque fois mais ils ne s'en souviennent jamais.

À chaque fois ils me demandent quel type de pain et de sauce je veux. Parfois, ils me le demandent même 2 fois. Ça n'enlève rien au goût du kebab mais ça donne l'impression qu'ils nous voient pour la première fois à chaque fois.

Bien entendu, ce n'est pas un haut lieu de la gastronomie avec un service personnalisé mais ça dépanne après...

I had today, for lunch, one of the best "Doner sandwich" (or "sandwich Grecque") that I ever had with salad, tomatoes, onions, very generous portions of halal lamb meat and french fries. A-MA-ZING and great pleasure for the palates.
