A Thoroughly Disappointing Experience — One Star is Generous
After reading glowing reviews and hearing enthusiastic recommendations, my family and I arrived at this so-called Italian gem with high hopes and empty stomachs. Unfortunately, what we encountered was not a warm welcome or memorable cuisine, but a cold serving of attitude and confusion.
Let me be clear: I understand that busy restaurants can be stressful, and I respect that there may be house rules. But what I don’t respect is staff taking out their stress on customers. From the moment we walked in, it felt like our presence was a burden. Communication was strained, and while language barriers are understandable, basic courtesy is universal — and completely absent here.
The infamous "one plate per person" rule was the tipping point. As a family that doesn’t eat large portions, we intended to share two pizzas and a portion of chips. Apparently, that was offensive to their business model. We were told we had to order three full meals, despite clearly explaining our situation. Unsurprisingly, we couldn’t finish everything — but I suppose food waste is preferable to common sense in this establishment.
To make matters worse, when we politely asked to take the leftovers with us, the chef responded with snide remarks — in a language we couldn’t fully understand, but the tone said it all. So much for the “authentic Italian hospitality” they boast about.
As for the food? Let’s just say it was as underwhelming as the service — bland, forgettable, and absolutely not worth the hype. Mediocre at best, and that’s being kind.
This experience sadly soured what had been a wonderful day at Puy du Fou. If you're in the area and considering dining here simply because it's one of the only places open after 7pm — do yourself a favor: pack a sandwich. Because what you’ll get here isn’t dinner — it’s disappointment, served with a side of rudeness and a sprinkle of passive aggression.

Read moreMe and my parents came here as it was given high reviews and the people spoke highly of this place. I understand how busy a place can get however I feel as if the two who were working there were so stressed they took it out on us. We understand that the language barrier is difficult and hard to pass but it became clear that they had rules that we weren't aware of. The one plate per person rule had very much rubbed me the wrong way, as a family we don't eat very much so we only wanted to order two pizzas and a portion of chips. They then continued to state that we had to buy three meals. In the end we didnt even finish all of it. After all the good review this place recieved, we are highly dissatisfied with this restaurant. Along with this rule about one person = one plate, their attitude towards us was harsh and rude. It spoilt my families day after our lovely exciting trip ti Puy Du Fou. When we asked at the end to take our food away with us, the chef made multiple snide remarks in a different language, we presume to be French or Italian. I did not like this attitude as we entered with a lovely aura about us and it was met with grief. On top of this, the food, as advertised as a true Italian restaurant, was mediocre at its best. For anyone on a trip to Puy Du Fou, I do not recommend the slightest bit! I understand that it's a tourist hot spot near Puy Du Fou and is the only food restaurant open after 7pm, but that doesn't give a free pass to serve a plate of cold attitude with a...
Read moreSeemingly quite angry man running the place. Far too much attitude for an owner of a restaurant, expect more of a pleasant and welcoming attitude however that wasent going to happen. Ordered Pizza for other half which was nice ( meat pizza ) then daughter had carbonara pizza which was flavourless. I was forced to order a full meal as had originally just wanted chips as I've had stomach surgery so can't actually eat much food,so ordered a carbanara which was super bland. The waitress was lovely and clearly keeps the place running well running around serving everyone, she was lovely. Just Mr chef in the back clearly had a little twist in another language when I asked to take my food away with me because I couldn't eat much. Less attitude and more quality in the carbanara, and he'd be on to a winner. I guess though he has the monopoly with not many other restaurants open on a Wednesday evening so he can get away with it. Even witnessed him turning people away quite rudely whilst shouting at his waitress. He could also do with having a wash of his clothing as he looks quite grubby. Witnessed him punching a pizza whilst having a winge about us taking...
