For those who are not aware Ecluse means a lock for boats to pass from 1 level of canal, either up or down to another level. Normally one would expect a canal side restaurant to serve a basic, easily forgotten menu. On arrival we were able to moor our cruiser right alongside the quay just a few steps from the restaurant, we chose from the menu and were pleasantly surprised by the very attentive and efficient service everyone received. Imagine our delight when our well presented meal arrived was served on hot plates. People eat with their eyes first, just look at the attached photo for proof, we had just called in as we passed, nothing special had been arranged. The cod we chose was a generous portion of fresh, not frozen, or pre-packed and cooked to perfection served on a bed of delicious creamy rice.
