The hotel has been to some extent renovated and modernised sadly loosing some of its original charm. We have always wanted to revisit as the food on our original visit was exceptional and has always remembered as a very good Michelin star restaurant, so this year we organized our drive down to Spain to revisit. ||Our room we were told was upgraded, not a great difference. The access by the stairs, being seven years older was fairly difficult. The dining room has been opened out and patio doors introduced trying to promote a more modern atmosphere?|| With great anticipation we choose the taster menu, after requesting if it was possible to change one of the meals from Pidgeon. The first three courses were good, the fourth was sole pieces covered in a rich dark source rather like marmite, rather strange. ||Now the main course, the lobster pieces were the size of three thumb nails, however the first confit of Pigeon was very rare and tough this was replaced, the second was as bad and impossible to eat. The sixth lemon desert was ok and the final dark chocolate was extremely rich. During the meal we made it known of our disquiet and afterwards spoke with the new owner's German wife, who was most charming and spoke perfect Enlish. The following morning, sadly the breakfast was not very good. We requested the bill from the owner's wife who advised us that she had deducted the six euro supplement on the resturant bill of 228 euros, when I queried had she taken serious consideration of our complaint ? her reply was that it was clear to her we were only after a reduction, not the manner in which a justifiable complaint is handled. It was then we discovered that they had lost the Star earlier this year, based upon our experience could be a long time before it is reinstated. ||Naturally a big disappoint. However this being only the second written complaint I have made in my lifetime at 74 is not bad. I hope in time the Son of the original owner together with his wife will restore the resturant to it's...

Read moreLooking for somewhere to celebrate, after cycling over 5 days from Toulouse, we were fortunate to come across this gem.|The staff could not have been more helpful finding a safe place for our bikes, and accommodating a 05.00 departure due to âgrĂšveâ on the railways.|The room, which had been recently refurbished, was quite small but with a bathroom of comparable size. Very tasteful, exceptionally clean and smart, though we found just a thin curtain on the bathroom quite off-putting at night!|The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious, with prices to reflect its quality. A couple of small âamuses gueulesâ, one fish, one soup to start. I followed with warm oysters then an exquisite magret de canard in a rich brown sauce. My partner chose tomato salad with warm goats cheese, followed by artichoke stuffed with fois gras. Deserts were a beautiful souffle and multi-layered mousse. A...
