le bistrot du pont — Restaurant in Largentière

Friday night dinner. We were staying up the road in Chauzon and passed this place every day. Located right on the corner of the bridge that divides Pradons and Chauzon and at the start of the car park for Le cirque de gens walking track. We walked in at 6.30pm and they don't serve food until 7pm. The friendly staff said they were fully booked except for a table for 2. Perfect. They said we could have a drink and wait. The food comes in huge portions with free bread, tap water and olives. No service charge or bread charge and didn't have to ask for water. The menu board literally is a massive board which you choose from. Get your Google Lens out if you don't speak French. Special of the day was veal with white garlic sauce. Wine board is cute. See photos. Had the tartare, Le Pont, which had ginger, coriander, yuzu and sesame seeds. All tartares come with a green salad and home made chips. Delicious. Shared a tiramisu with amaretto. Absolutely stuffed. 250ml of Merlot, one Monaco beer and a fruit juice later, the bill was €65.50. In the day, you have a spectacular view of the rocks and river. In true Dutch fashion we arrived at 6 in the evening looking for some good French food and a cold beverage. The staff from the restaurant just started with their own dinner and told us we had to wait for drinks. We totally understood and said we could wait. And then surprise: we got 2 cold beers! After they were done with their break they got us a beautifull table (even tho the restaurant was fully booked) and we ordered our dinner. We got excellent tartare de bouef and tartare de veau. We moesten een uur later weer komen, want de keuken ging pas 1930 open?! Dat is zelfs in Frankrijk laat. Toen we terug kwamen werden we niet welkom geheten want er was wel 1 andere klant! Toen we op het terras wouden gaan zitten moesten we elders gaan zitten, want het terras was voor 4 personen, maar er was verder niemand!!! We zijn vertrokken en hebben elders goed gegeten. Toen we terug kwamen zat er nog niemand. Luie onvriendelijke inflexible eigenaar dus. Niet gewend aan klanten... De vriendelijke vrouw, die ook niet met drukte om kan gaan, die vaker wordt genoemd was er helaas niet... Afrader dus, wel mooi uitzicht, maar dat maakt niet alles goed.

Il a fallu revenir une heure plus tard, car la cuisine n’a ouvert qu’en 1930?! C'est tard même en France. À notre retour, nous n'avons pas été accueillis car il y avait 1 autre client! Quand nous voulions nous asseoir sur la terrasse, nous devions nous asseoir ailleurs, car la terrasse était pour 4 personnes, mais il n'y avait personne d'autre !!! Nous sommes partis et avons bien mangé ailleurs. Quand nous sommes revenus il n'y avait personne. Propriétaire paresseux, peu amical et inflexible. Pas habitué à la clientèle ... La femme sympathique, qui ne sait pas non plus gérer la foule, qui est mentionnée plus souvent, n'était malheureusement pas là ... Donc, bonne idée, belle vue, mais ça ne...
