Relais 21 — Restaurant in Le Blanc

We have visited this relais many times over the last 15 or so years but it’s been a while since we’ve been. We think it’s changed hands. Unfortunately it was not as good as we remember it or….we just hit a poor night or made the wrong choices. 4 cheese quiche starter was very strong…it had blue cheese in it! Never had that before and it was salty and overpowering. My veal in white sauce was a bit bland. I was expecting a piece but it came in big chunks. Husband’s burger was ok. Chef’s tart was apple but it wasn’t a normal tart au pomme, thin pastry with sliced apples. This was doughy and very heavy with chunks of apple. Service was excellent and atmosphere good…shame...

We’ve just had a great 3 course meal here including 2 pepper steaks, (cooked to perfection) a beer and 2 kirs for the grand total of €36.70. Amazing value and really good food. Proper frites, not frozen rubbish and exceptionally tasty haricot vert with garlic. Brilliant service, pleasing decor, clean surroundings and a good atmosphere.
