AVANGEL — Restaurant in Le Mans

One of, if not the best restaurant experience I have had - zero exagerration! My brother and I ate here after the Le Mans 24hr. The service from Razu (sp?) was exceptional - he is an incredibly lovely and welcoming host, and while we were the only people eating at the time he made the atmosphere warm and personal! The food itself was excellent - we had a vegetable biryani and butter chicken and both were beautifully presented, cooked fresh too order and tasted incredible. Not to mention generously priced! After leaving a deserved tip, Razu invited us to join him for complimentary drinks, chicken wings and an incredible chickpea based dessert while enjoying Razu's company. If our review seems hyperbolic, then also consider we then were joined by a gentlemen who had eaten there every night for the past week, and shared our glowing appreciation for the service, food, and family atmosphere. I gave this a 5* but mainly that was because the owner is a great guy. The food does not resemble Indian food as I know it either in the UK, Spain or France. The naan bread is not naan bread at all, it's a very greasy rotti with some kind of herbs in it. The "chicken tikka masala" is not a chicken tikka masala, it contains tomato and onion and the sauce is a generic curry sauce. The rice was light and fragrant. Nous n’avons même pas eu l’occasion de goûter la cuisine de ce restaurant, mais la situation a été si désagréable que je ressens le besoin de partager notre expérience.

Nous étions sur la route et avons décidé de modifier notre itinéraire de voyage juste pour essayer ce restaurant (très mauvaise idée). Mais avant de nous y rendre, nous avons appelé pour demander s’il était possible de venir avec notre chien. On nous a répondu que ce n’était pas autorisé, ce que nous comprenons tout à fait. Nous avons donc décidé d’y aller quand même et de commander à emporter pour manger dans la voiture…

Malheureusement, l’accueil a été exécrable. Le propriétaire, nous voyant sortir de la voiture avec notre chien (je comptais simplement rester dehors avec lui pendant que mon compagnon faisait la commande), est immédiatement sorti pour nous parler sur un ton agressif. Il nous a répété plusieurs fois qu’il refusait les chiens et qu’il était hors de question d’entrer, ce que nous savions déjà. Nous souhaitions seulement passer une commande à emporter.
