Le Grand Bleu — Restaurant in Les Sables-d'Olonne

This has got to be the most awful restaurant ever in st-Gilles-croix-de-vie. We decidedly to visit with our two young children who were hungry at the time we ordered our food and within seconds it arrived, which made me question if the chicken we ordered was actually cooked the chip were Luke warm. The children had almost finished when our meals arrived which defeated of us eating together. My sirloin steak was a very poor cut of meat which was more like a slab of fat than meat, I never ate the meal....... When we explain to our waiter that we wasn't happy with one of our meals he told us that's how it comes which it clearly wasn't as my husband food was ok. No apologies they brought the bill and asked us to pay, I told them that I wouldn't pay for my meal because I couldn't eat it due to the amount of fat present....... This was when the manager came over and became very aggressive towards me and my family, I got up to get my little boy who was by a fountain close by where he tried to grab my bag I actually had to step back away from him as he tried to push me back to my seat..... My husband said I'm happy to pay for the food eaten but my wife food was awful and should never have been served due to the cook of meat itself...... My daughter became upset due to him and his aggressive behaviour he shouted at us and pointed that he's to busy and it was us that didn't understand what we order !!!! Very questionable really as both me and husband ordered the same his was fine and mine was vile !!!! I then told my husband to pay cash and just not pay for mine as both kids were getting upset as him and his staff members became very hands on to our family.... We went to the town to spend a few hours, we stopped off here as the reviews looked positive. When we asked about dinner we were told food wasn’t for another 30 minutes having three hungry kids we thought yeah ok we will wait. We played in the nearby playground. We arrived back at 7 and were seated (without a smile) while looking over the menus four - five more tables were filled….10 minutes went by and the other tables were getting their drinks but we haven’t even ordered yet…..another 10 minutes went by we tried to get some attention and we were dismissed as she was serving another table that was seated 5 minutes ago……..much to say it put a sour taste in our mouth and ruined our evening we left with three upset hungry kids who were excited to get...

Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie is a lovely place, we tried here for an early evening meal, was told that only pizzas were available. The waitress was rude for the whole experience, she obviously did not want to serve someone from UK, and constantly ignored our requests for service in favour of French guests. When we did get service she sighed at us because our French pronunciation was not prefect. She looked down nose at us and slammed items on table.
