I visited this restaurant with my family, to end our amazing holiday together and unfortunately I was sorely mistaken when choosing this place for dinner. I had booked the table, to sit 10 people (7 adults, 3 children) outside in their outdoor area. Upon arrival we were given two tables spread across the restaurant which we asked to move closer together as we couldn't leave the children on their own. We were greeted with animosity straight off the bat, with sighs and eye rolls from the female manager who never even said a word to us as she watched us. The waitress who served us (a petite blonde girl with galsses) was very pleasant and took her time taking our orders seeing as we spoke very little French. We placed our order and drinks began flowing. Around about an hour later, when the children started getting hangry we asked for an eta of our food, taking into account that we had ordered a Cote De Boeuf which we were prepared to wait for. This however did not excuse the fact that we were sat with no more drinks and no interaction from our servers during this time. Once our food arrived,  a whole 1 hour 25 minutes after we had ordered, we were all less than impressed. The Cote De Boeuf which we had asked to be cooked medium/rare (á point) came out more than well done and very wooly. For a €70 dish, this was unacceptable. We called the waitress over to voice our concerns to which she took the meat away and the kitchen began preparing a new dish. An elderly gentleman, rather big in stature (we are presuming the owner) proceeded to then shout at our waitress that it was her fault for our incorrect order. This however was not the end of our poor meal choices, the duck dish was also served to us very overdone, the carbonara which was served to 3 people, including the children was drenched in oil, so much so that the dish became inedible. The seabass dish smelt overly fishy, an almost 'gone off' smell. And finally the chips, regardless if they were part of a meal or as a side dish has the faint smell and taste of fish which is very off putting to someone who doesn't like seafood. Around 20 minutes (give or take) after we had returned the steak, a new one arrived just as the rest of our party had finished their meals. Another waiter asked the two people sharing the steak if they had already eaten their side dishes. Which, 'obviously' (we all thought to ourselves) as we had been sat at our table for just shy of 2 hours, of course they would eat their sides. This confirmed to us that we would not be receiving anything other than the steak back from the kitchen. The slab of meat was placed on the table and to our utter shock and disbelief it was stone cold and raw. Please see the picture attached for reference. Again, we voiced our concerns to the manager this time (a stocky woman with short black hair), we explained to her that this was too raw for us as we had asked for medium, to call her response rude would be a gross understatement, she slammed the steak back on the table while repeating 'you pay, you pay'. Of course, we would not be paying for this 'meal' that was inedible both times it was brought to us with no offer to have something different from the menu. Upon paying for the bill, we ended up in a heated discussion with the presumed owner and the manager who kept repeating that we needed to pay and then followed up offering for us to pay for half! Fat chance! How a restaurant can supply an over cooked steak AND a completely raw steak and still stand their ground that both were á point was laughable. Finally to top off the entire night, after only paying for the meals which we actually ate, the manager then followed us, shouting down the street filming us! Not only was this a massive invasion of our privacy considering we were walking with children but it was extremely unprofessional behaviour from the manager and borderline threatening behaviour to experience while on holiday. I would urge anyone to avoid this place at all costs. I am giving this a 1 star review purely because the cocktails weren't terrible.

The restaurant is a relaunch of Jacky Whale, more upmarket and with a nice ambiance. Our waitress Celia spoke great English, was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, in particular try the Jambonneau, the English translation "knuckle of ham" implies a fatty gristle piece of meat. The truth is a beautifully roasted gammon on the bone, very generous, moist and tender. It accompanies well with dauphinois potato. Definitely worth trying.
