Les Voyageurs — Restaurant in Les Sables-d'Olonne

A safe, but not inspiring place to eat and a bit pricey for the quality. It's a big space and we ended up there after being turned away from a couple of restaurants on a busy summer Saturday. Menu is a little uninspiring and looked expensive and did prove to be overpriced. The French trio with me opted for burgers, despite the odd choice of flavours. A Scottish burger (salmon), vegetarian burger & Italian burger (pesto and mozzarella). They all chose the Italian as the closest to a typical burger, but all found it underwhelming. It was oddly presented in a long bun; none of them found it tasty, but it was inoffensive, bar the 16 Euros charged for it! Chips were oddly shaped, too thick & lacking crunch. I had the moules frites and they were fine, but I did choose them as one of the safer options in St Gilles and because they were reasonably priced. They were decent enough, with a fie sized portion. La cuisine était top ! Malheureusement, je ne peux pas mettre plus de trois étoiles à cause d’une serveuse parlant mal dès l’entrée en nous disant d’un ton arrogant « vous êtes dans l’entrée », alors qu’on attendait juste depuis 5 minutes un serveur car on avait réservé. De plus, mauvaise expérience avec un serveur je crois nommé « Lorenzo ». J’ai commandé un « pavé de saumon, frites, salade ». Mon assiette arrive avec des brocolis alors je dis gentiment « excusez moi, j’avais demandé des frites s’il vous plaît ». Monsieur me répond « oui bah j’ai pas 15 bras ». Je lui explique que sur la carte ce n’était pas marqué qu’il y avait des brocolis et que je pensais donc que les frites étaient dans l’assiette. Il reste arrogant et me dit que je ne peux pas comprendre un gros service en restauration. Pas de bol pour lui, nous étions 3 à travailler en restauration à la table. Have been visiting this place for 7 yrs and have loved it. But what has happened to the menu!! Choice is very limited. The burger pattie was sausage shaped and seemingly deep fried.
