When my wife told me she had booked three nights in a French hotel with such an English name I must admit to some trepidation. The location was always going to be perfect for a three night stopover coming up from Pays Basque to St Malo but why the name? I should not be concerned with such trivialities! On arrival one immediate advantage was the parking. Right outside the front door is a fairly large public car park, although Le Robinson has its own secure car park too. The Receptionist was charming and spoke very good English. It transpired that she was the Great Grand-daughter of the founders but she said nobody in the family knew why the hotel was called such. I immediately conjured up several theories regarding the last year of WW2 and certain liaisons going on...! The accommodation was very good and we had ordered a balcony room. The balcony, albeit with views overlooking a minor road and the entrance to the private car park, was large and well appointed as was the room.|The restaurant was fantastic. Plenty of choices and a wonderful atmosphere. Also very busy but we were served helpfully and efficiently. Food was superb and I fear I rather over-indulged which was easy to do! |Eventually, each evening, after returning to our room via the comfortable bar, we found the bed very comfortable and slept well each night. |Breakfast, although of the continental buffet style, was well thought out with no shortage of any item. As soon as individual items got even slightly low the containers were replenished. Plenty of choice of hot and cold beverages.|I can only come up with one minor irritation - not a complaint - during our stay. The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities but we were not given milk. It’s actually quite rare for us to use these facilities anyway so it didn’t really make a lot of difference, although when we arrived after a five and a half hour drive I did actually fancy a coffee.|The location of the hotel is about 30 minutes walk from the beach (make sure you take the first on the left by the pirate ship - about the third exit if driving - or it becomes a 45 minute walk!) and about 10 from the shopping centre in the opposite direction. The hotel is right opposite the fire and ambulance station but there was no disturbance as there is a dual carriageway in between. |Not a gripe about the hotel but the beach-front restaurants, in the main, will not just serve a glass of wine to you but will expect you to order a meal. We have experienced this attitude every time we have been here. In the end we headed back to the hotel and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine in the bar. Superb!|Which is probably a good word to finish this review on - superb! I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and give it five stars in any genre you care to name. Well done Le Robinson and well done to my wife for finding it....

Read moreStayed here for one night on our touring holiday around france. Modern hotel and a little bit of a maze to find your way around, I think the hotel has obviously had various add on extensions over the years. There is a swimming pool as well although we did not have time to use it. Very nice large room with an extremely comfortable bed and thank heavens for the air conditioning as it was in the 90s when we were here. Parking is either on an area outside the hotel which is free or you can opt for paid private parking in the underground garage. We had booked this option but the guy on reception said it was a bit tight for a large, long car like ours (Mercedes SLK). He kindly found us a private spot at the back of the hotel in an area with a closed door, just for our car which was great and can’t thank him enough for that. The staff were lovely but some of them spoke little English but that was fine with us. The meal in the restaurant was lovely and the service was very professional and friendly, the menu was a little difficult to translate as described in a “flowery way” so not easy to understand how the various dishes were cooked and what they came with, (not even using google translate), would have been nice to have had an English menu. Did not have the breakfast but decided to have a walk around the town before leaving where we found several patisserie shops with eating areas as part of the place so really nice to have a coffee and fresh baked pastry for breakfast. We were here on a Wednesday and there was a huge market set up to have a wander around if you...
