Guinguette De La Marine — Restaurant in Lille

I was a bit apprehensive to enter after some of the reviews here, but was generally happy with the visit.

The welcome was fine, as was the service. They were happy to serve us just a beer if we wished, which is often not so in many French Bistros. The local Anosteké beer on tap was as excellent as it should be. I ordered the Planche Mixte which was fine. The cheeses were actually nicely ripe, not too cold and hence full of flavor. The charcuterie was also ok, but for my liking would have been a lot better if sliced thinner..

If I were to find myself in the area again, I would not hesitate to make another visit.

TIP: Walk back across the somewhat alarmingly decaying iron bridge to Belgium, and take a look in the Church which has some rather extraordinary art nouveau features (confessionals, pulpit and alter). Also on the square, the Art deco WW1 war memorial covered in bullet holes from...

A really great place with great view of the canal. And its just on the border of france and on the other side of the canal is belgium. So you can come from belgium or france. We were coming back from belgium and just stayed for a quick drink on the terrace. The ambiance is great. It is a great place to go to have drinks or eat with friends and family. It is very friendly for children. They have a lot of space for children to play and enjoy. The view is really great and the service was good. And the inside of the restaurant is also really big and beautiful if you don't want to sit on the terrace. But yes the terrace is always packed on a good sunny day. Je suis venu un soir avec des amis, pensant passer un moment agréable… Grosse erreur. Ce restaurant est une véritable catastrophe, sur tous les plans. La cuisine était tout simplement immonde : plats tièdes, mal assaisonnés, visuellement repoussants, et avec une odeur plus que douteuse. On s’est même demandé si certains ingrédients étaient encore frais.

Mais le pire, c’est le service. Les jeunes ont réussi à plomber l’ambiance dès notre arrivée. Mention spéciale à Aelis et Noé, à la paillote, étaient d’un niveau d’amateurisme affligeant : service lent, désorganisation totale, erreurs à répétition… Et l’attitude, n’en parlons même pas. Entre l’agacement visible et l’absence totale de politesse, c’était un sketch permanent. Quant à Joséphine et Simon, froid(e), hautain(e) et blasé(e), ils donnaient l’impression d’être en punition.

Franchement, ces personnes ne devraient pas travailler dans la restauration. Aucune notion d’accueil, aucun professionnalisme, et zéro respect du client. Il faut vraiment songer à changer de voie surtout pour une des deux filles avec qui je tairais le nom.

Et pour couronner le tout : l’hygiène laisse clairement à désirer. Tables sales, tenues du personnel douteuses, et une cuisine qu’on préfèrerait ne pas voir de trop près… Je suis suffisamment inquiet pour envisager de faire un signalement aux services d’hygiène. À ce niveau-là, ce n’est plus juste une mauvaise expérience, c’est une mise en danger potentielle.
