La Colomb'auge — Restaurant in Lisieux

I really, really wanted to like this place based on the excellent reviews it had received. Unfortunately, I didn't even get the chance to walk within a few inches inside the door.

As we entered the completely empty restaurant a few minutes before it was scheduled to open, my traveling companion and I were immediately told there were no tables available, and there wouldn't be any for several hours. We dined at another nearby establishment, and as we returned to our car, the La Colomb'auge was empty inside, and only two tables outside were occupied.

The experience was disappointing to say the least. Our four-hour trip to and from our apartment in Bayeux was salvaged by the lovely drive along the countryside, and the other excellent restaurants we found along the way.

If you visit La Colomb'auge, be ready for a dose of rudeness...

We arrived at 13:00 as the place posted that they are open from 10:00 to 14:30. Half of the tables were empty, but the proprietors refused to serve us. I have traveled the world as a food and wine critic and this place has left a very bad memory. This kind of attitude and service are not acceptable. I will be beck in Normandy, but never in this place, nor will I recommend it to...

The owner was abrupt rude and offensive and rather his food was mediocre and the place alive with wasps and flies which spoilt our meal we stayed for one course wine soft drink and gallettes costing over 40euros but left within 20 minutes for fear of wasp stings The waiter was very accommodating but by this time we just felt very disappointed the worst experience so far in...
