Le Relais de Francueil — Restaurant in Loches

Looked a bit quiet at 1800 but in we went. First people in and seated on the "terrace" (round the back and near one of the roads off the roundabout - but far enough away from the traffic not to notice it except for a particularly smelly pig truck!). Various menus on offer from around 10 to 30 EUR. Between us (1 adult, 2 kids) we had a 14 EUR menu, a beef tartar off the a la carte and a pizza. The beef tartar was the clear winner, followed by the cheese plate on the set menu. Seems to be run by a young guy and gal who were quick to serve and helped out with menu choice. Easy to find with a large carpark. A few truck drivers propping up the bar gave the required roadhouse restaurant feel if you just fancied a quick pastis. Would happily visit again for a good value and relaxed meal. Update July 2020: Has changed ownership but reportedly the chef and waiter are staying on. Looking forwards to seeing if it offers the same good food...

This place is great, you enter into a small bar and the staff take you to a large outdoor, covered, cool seated area. It s a mix of locals, tourists and passing trade.

For €21.50 you can get 3 course menu. All you can eat Buffett starter, we had Entrecôte and Duck for main, both cooked brilliantly. Selection of sweets or cheese to finish. The carafes of wine were as you’d expect for this area of France.

Speaking with other guests staying at our gite, they had exactly the same experience, we’ll be going back later...

Der Besuch war eigentlich Zufall: nachdem wir von einem Michelin Restaurant in der Nähe abgewiesen wurden, bzw keine Kindermenü zu bekommen wäre ( obwohl auf der Homepage angegeben) waren wir auf der Suche nach dem Abendessen. Das Restaurant an der Kreuzung gesehen ( und viele LKW auf dem großen Parkplatz davor) und haben entschieden dort zu versuchen. Innen drin herzlichst begrüßt vom Wirt, durften wir die Plätze aussuchen und direkt bestellen. Die Getränke kamen schnell, in Menüs konnte jeder von uns was für sich finden. Als Vorspeise gab es Buffet mit Salaten und Aufschnitt, die kennen wir von Restaurants ouvrier. Mein Kind bekam Hamburger als Hauptgericht, mein Mann die leckeren, gut gewürzten Muscheln und ich das leckerste und zarteste Fleisch ( onglet de boef), das ich seit langem gegessen habe! Die Garstufe war perfekt getroffen, die Pfeffersauce passte wunderbar dazu. Käseplatte und Dessert mit Kaffee rundeten das Essen ab. Es kamen immer mehr Fernfahrer dazu, trotzdem wurde zackig bedient und der Wirt hat allen Tischen Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt.
