Dégustation Saint Guillaume — Restaurant in Lorient

OK... maybe it's because I'm from this region (Bretagne)...but once you've had seafood over there, it really sets the bar extremely high....and even more so when you go to the Degustation Saint Guillaume. OK...you have to know how to get there...GPS or Waze will be a great help... but it's worth the drive and the effort .... once you get there, you will find a quaint establishment that is literally by the water... with regards to seafood... you can't get much fresher than that. Depending on your appetite, you can choose between a selection of platters either for 1 or to share... if you're a seafood lover... you really can't get it wrong here. As if it couldn't get any better, they have a great wine selection to please just about anybody .... and in the event that you still have a bit of room left after all that.... hit anything on the desert menu ! I strongly suggest reserving ahead.. this place may be a bit off the grid... it's renowned and it also demonstrates it's quality and success. Finally, a word to recognize the warm welcome we had from the staff. I had a quick chat with the owner/manager...great chap.. loves his job... loves his place... loves his customers....and he does what it takes to ensure that they want to come back. We spent a very special evening here. It's only in Brittany that I've seen only crustacean's served. Maybe I've not travelled enough, perhaps there are places in Scotland or Cornwall similar?. I love that it is quite small, remote, always booked up, and only open for 6 months a year. I had the impression that everyone who worked there loved it, they know it's special. One of the waiters was very surprised to find an English person, who didn't live locally. He joked in French " can I touch him". It's an experience very special. Amazing place!! The location is wonderful. The few colourful tables set up a festive mode right upon entrance. Inside the decor very warm, interesting and creating great ambience. The food can be summarised by one word - OUTSTANDING. All of it. That's why I recommend ordering a Plateau de Fruites de Mer. The service is excellent, professional, and with a smile.
