Don’t let the name fool you! La P’tit Boulange is not particularly small. It’s a proper bakery turning out breads and pastries throughout the day, exactly the sort of place you hope to find in France.

The outside can be misleading. The sign reads Boulanger and Snacking, which makes it look like a sandwich bar. In fact, it’s a working bakery, nothing more and nothing less. You buy your bread and cakes, and you take them away—and likely you’ll take home more than you came in for.

The range is broad. Alongside baguettes, croissants, and country loaves, there are several speciality breads: the Nutritionelle, Pain aux Noix, and a cacao bread among them. Everything is fresh, and there’s a steady stream of people collecting their favourites. They also do sandwiches, quiches and fresh crepes, as well as very large chocolate chip cookies.

The car park tells its own story. Old local saloons, holidaymaker vans, and the odd Porsche all pull up outside, everyone queueing for the same good bread.

La P’tit Boulange is exactly what it should be: a dependable bakery and one of the best places in Ploemel to buy your daily bread, fresh out the oven and for reasonable prices. You’ll just have to suffer the Porsches parking like they own the...

Went here twice to get pastries while spending a few days near Carnac. Amazing selection that is amazingly good. Had at least 10 different items all of which were delicious. Their version of Brittany’s kouign amann was delicious. Got a couple before we hit the road on our last day. The place is clearly a local favorite as it had people coming...

Superb bakery. Cakes, bread, sandwiches. The wide choice will suit the entire family or friends visiting. The chocolate bread is fantastic. I also regularly get my last meal here for on the Eurostar sandwich and cake, even bread for the next day. If you are local or passing by, do not miss out!
