La Grotte — Restaurant in Louhans

Positive: The wifi was brilliant! The lady was very friendly and the breakfast was set out for us and served to our table. The area would be worth exploring if one stayed for more than a night. We had only booked for one night en route home to the UK from Italy so it was definitely just a stopover. The room was clean as was the bathroom.. Negative: The whole place is a bit dated and we were disappointed that the restaurant was closed. We were tired and would have liked to eat without having to drive anywhere. However, it proved to be a blessing in disguise as we found a place to eat in Louhans which was great and nearby. The room was a tad small but as I said it was only an overnight stop so didn't matter too much. The bathroom was OK but the shower was hard to get to work as it was a mixer tap. If the place was updated and overhauled it would be a fab place. Negative: The room was basic ,linoleum lifting up in places ,no where to hang a coat not even a hook on the door ,and a cupboard /shelf way up on the wall too high to reach. .Didn't notice the tea/coffee facility until we were leaving it was so dark .Restaurant closed on a Sunday evening wasn't aware of that so had to drive to another cafe /restaurant for an average pizza.Had to shelter in a door way of another restaurant that was empty and serving, nothing that was reasonably priced ,during a horrendous thunderstorm .Not a very good stay all things...

Positive: Gorgeous little place in an adorable village. The room was ok, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. At night we could only hear the crickets. No traffic, no people. The food and wine in the restaurant was amazing and our host and hostess were very polite and helpful. Both the hotel and the restaurant were dog friendly. Excellent value...
