Unassuming restaurant from the outside with a beautiful interior. They have done an extremely good job of blending the modern bar side with the retro restaurant side of the building, its a seamless transition and one that took me by surprise. I'm told by the people that brought me here that this restaurant has a lot of history and was a staple for the locals but much like every restaurant in the region (possibly the world) they have struggled after covid with lockdowns and losing staff and its a competitive world to keep the restaurant running at a profit, retain staff and keep the food good.
Them menu presents well and walking onto the dining room you can't help but notice the massive grill centre stage. The staff are presented well and the food cooking next to you looks very inviting. Pricing is okay and the wine selection is good. I ordered the entrecôte (sirloin steak) and the three I were will all ordered the pork legs. Entree and drink service was fast though the mains took some time which could not be explained. The sides were delicious, ratatouille, gratin and provincial tomato but the protein left a lot to be desired. The steak was cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning - something I've become accustomed to in France but was easily remedied with the salt and pepper on table. The steak itself had a lot of sinue and the flesh was tough which was disappointing but from what I heard from the other three the pork legs hadn't had the fat rendered properly and for a dish that already lacks substance there really was little meat as they were of poor quality. Desserts and coffee were offered but by this time it was quite late so we elected to leave satisfied but slightly disappointed. Fingers crossed this place can return to its former glory. It can get away with charging €5 more per dish and upping the service and food quality.
