Hands down, the worst meal I’ve had out in a restaurant in my adult life. The food was, honestly, foul. The guacamole was brown, the nachos were covered in squeezy cheese. The dorade dish came with rice that tasted exactly like boil in the bag rice. The sauce was creamy, like it had been made with UHT cream…so far, far from being in any way authentically Mexican. Both ceviches were awful, terrible, disgusting. Both fishes tasted bad, like, badly off. The salmon one was covered in what tasted like passion fruit cocktail mix, the puree that you put in pornstar martinis. The dorade one tasted funky, in a bad way, seriously off. The tacos were the least bad of everything but they were far from good. All had the same squeezy cheese on the top. The veggie one was sweet potato puree, and the pork & beef ones, well, I had concerns about when this meat was cooked. How long had it been hanging around? You can tell when food is not fresh. I was honestly appalled by the food, and with two beers and a glass of wine the bill came to 92 euro. I am completely baffled as to how this place has so many 5 star ratings. It was a complete shambles, a complete waste of money, time, and I really hope I don’t get sick from the dodgy tasting ceviche that tasted anything but fresh. This is yet another shockingly bad restaurant in La Ciotat. I don’t know why I expected...
Read moreThe second worst meal of my life. I am angry with myself for not sending it back, but it was late on a Saturday night and I was hungry. I am now sitting in bed imagining food poisoning and €100 out of pocket. The tacos weren’t too bad, but the rest of the meal was offensive. The nachos and guacamole we started with came out with brown guacamole and the cheapest quality shop bought tortilla chips, with American squeezey cheese on top. The duo of ceviche starter was the main dish provoking thoughts of food poisoning (time will tell) but the flavour was off and even if the fish was fresh, wouldn’t have been enjoyable. The dorade fish, strange but edible. The server was friendly and fine, but I felt sorry for him trying to be positive whilst serving such abhorrent food. Looking back on previous reviews, this place must have lost its staff and replaced them with anyone they could find. Apologies for such a savage review, but this place won’t stay in business long. I hate fast food, but I’d recommend saving your time and money and going to McDonald’s over this place, which is such a shame as La Ciotat could really benefit from a place serving modern, fresh and healthy food. This...
Read moreThe AQO restaurant in the La Ciotat Food Court might well be your best choice if you're looking for a fantastic Latino eatery with a great view of the sea. Despite the lack of an English menu, the server is quite accommodating and willing to translate as needed.
On a Sunday, I went there for brunch and was amazed by the Fried Chicken and Waffles were. The presentation was lovely, and the contrast between the sweet waffles and the salty fried chicken was exactly right.
Overall, if you're searching for a top-notch restaurant in La Ciotat, I totally recommend AQO. The service is top-notch, the cuisine is scrumptious, and the scenery is great. Don't be shy to...
