I have just received a reply from McDonalds below. They are implying I was being critical of the staff on the ground. I was most CATEGORICALLY NOT. On the contrary, I felt sympathy for them, and many of us exchanged wry looks of despair. At the same time, I have frequented many vast, busy fast food and other outlets that are well run, and there is service with a smile and efficiency (eg, not consistently broken lavatories, which - I am sure - also has an impact on the wellbeing of staff). These places run well because there is an interest from higher management, both in their infrastructure and their staff. They are also well-staffed at all levels to deal with higher volumes of footfall, precisely so these young frontline staff do not become so overwhelmed and despondent. I would suggest McDonalds higher management themselves try out something along the lines of "Undercover Boss" at this particular establishment in question. Maybe they will learn something about why it consistently receives such poor feedback. After all, higher management receives higher salaries for such extra responsibilities as this. I do not blame the poor staff on the ground for one moment. Maybe McDonalds will think about the level of support and spot checks at branches like this one in the future, rather than lecturing customers who have received poor service. My original review still stands.
This should be ZERO stars. We have given this place 4 chances now, as we use the nearby Kyriad Hotel en route to and from England/Spain. It's the only place to eat. We have been consistently disappointed by the filth, the flabby lacklustre cold food, and constantly broken toilets. The only thing more broken than the toilets are the downtrodden staff, who are clearly overwhelmed, under-trained and underpaid.
On this - our very last visit to a McDonalds ever again - the place stank of stale vomit. There was debris everywhere we looked, and hoards of hungry bewildered would-be customers awaiting long ago placed orders. We left swiftly - never to return.

   Read moreThis is the worst Macdonalds I have ever had the misfortune of attending in any country. It worsened because I looked forward to getting there after a 600-mile drive. I was to be greeted by food served not just 15 minutes after placing the order but stone cold and missing items that were selected. To be met with hostility from the server, who was busy kissing and cuddling a colleague. Behind the counter, it was so bad it was just unbelievable. The second attempt was reluctantly provided after it had been held in a server's hand for over 5 minutes while he was busy with his girlfriend. To cap it all, it was missing onions, but I was told McDonald's doesn't sell onions! They were rude, shouting at both of us, and they obviously don't realise it is customers who pay their salaries at the end of the day! Don't go to this place if you don't like bad, rude service, where customers aren't respected, and the food and overall quality control...
