Casa del Tapas — Restaurant in Montmorillon

So disappointed tonight, travelled a fair distance to this restaurant in a lovely spot ,to be met by a huge pile of bin bags right by the seating area ,very hot this evening and barely any shade with just two umbrellas ,uneven surface to sit on had to move our own tables even though we had booked ,dirty plates and cutlery didn’t start us off well ,then told no beer as pump had broken ( ok can’t be helped ) but only other offering was desperado ( not everyone’s cup of tea ) husband had to go to the shop next door ! No one offered to fetch more beer ( the shop is literally next door ) food was woeful rock hard potatoes ,cold food that came out in dribs and drabs ,tapas should be a lovely sharing experience ,this was not the case unfortunately .when we complained we were told they would let the fact that we had to buy our own beer ‘slide’ what a cheek !! Something was seriously wrong this evening...

We went to the Drag show and were really looking forward to it! But unfortunately @ €30 pp it was overpriced as the food was rubbish bland and unseasoned and by the time we got our food it was cold and three people had to share a pathetic bowl of salad!! the staff were completely overwhelmed as there were just two girls on who couldn’t cope with the demand…. The Sangria was watered down & flavorless, the beer was warm and we had to wait ages for drinks to come out. As for the show Alix did her best with a blown speaker and a dodgy wig which took away from the allure of the evening. We had been here once before which was also not a brilliant experience but we thought we would give it a second chance but probably...

First impressions give a warm and welcome Spanish feel. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is incredible!!!!!! I’d give 5 stars for the food alone (thankfully the service is excellent also). We picked a range of choices (Tapas obviously) my favourite dishes was the chorizo, sorry can’t remember the name but was cooked in cider (and other glorious ingredients) and the garlic smashed potatoes. You just have to try the homemade chocolate orange cheesecake too. Can’t wait to go back and try out...
