L’encas et L’échoppe — Restaurant in Montreuil-sur-Mer

What a gorgeous place! L'Encas et l'Échoppe is tucked away behind a residential street in Gouy St Andre and has a surprising view across its patio to trees and fields.

It's both a beautifully-presented shop selling Katharine's finds from French brocantes, pottery and textiles as well as being a cafe. On offer are delicious healthy quiches, salads and indulgent cakes - all homemade of course. Inside the cafe is one large table seating about 10 people; outside are smaller tables. Vegetarians would be very happy here, so would those who like to eat more lightly.

Enjoy the beautiful, large garden with a piece of homemade nettle cake. Everything about this place is extraordinary and worth seeing. If you're lucky, the cute cat will say hello too.

It's beautifully private here, in the middle of nature - what you wouldn't expect. Birdsong and the sound of the wind. Plus a really hospitable hostess who speaks fluent English and French.
