What an amazing find in this small village! Looks like a pub from the outside but we were floored when we walked in - elegant dining room, opening out onto a beautiful terrace garden. Much bigger inside than we imagined. Quaint handwritten menus, with good variety across meats (beef, calf), fish, vegetarian. Also seasonal asparagus specials, and a 4 or 6 course surprise menu (great value at EUR 42 or 60). I won’t spoil it for you but I had the fish surprise and my husband the meat surprise: portions are generous across every course and we were stuffed afterwards. There’s also a kids menu: good value at EUR 20 for starter, main, ice cream. Desserts are also amazing! Service was warm and friendly, and patient with our bad French! I have been here 3 time and I have had the same experience. We have been treated and serviced badly. Today we where not served desert or asked if we wanted any, I had to walk to the reception to pay our bill as waiters where around but will avoid eye contact, leaving us feeling like they didn't want to serve our table. I had to express my dissatisfaction with the service today, and well the receptionist wasn't the slightest interested in what I had to say, more interested in me paying for our meal.

Plates came out scalding hot. My son’s steak was well past mid rare and the fois on top was eraser-like. My salmon sat on a practically still boiling sauce / soup situation but was almost frozen inside. I asked the waiter, whose service was attentive and friendly, and he explained they prepare all the dishes on the day before service, refrigerate them and then reheat them. He apologized for my still cold salmon, took it and returned 3 minutes later with it too roiling hot, the garnish of sprouts now desiccated.
It’s a shame because it’s a charming place and the staff was lovely.
