I don't like to write negative reviews but there is little positive to say about this shabby hostel. I feel it is totally misrepresented on the Internet. None of the photos apart from the outside bear any resemblance to what we experienced. The lobby is shabby, scruffy & stinks of grease. Up stained & filthy carpet to our room. Why they put a new visitor in what surely must be the poorest they can offer is beyond me. We went to the town to visit a particular restaurant & would be returning customers if it wasn't so awful but we were stuck on the busiest edge of the second floor in a room that has obviously not been touched by the hand of refurbishment ever. It's so well positioned for both off site parking & town facilities that the hotel can't be blamed for the excessive noise, everything from traffic, lorries, shouting & an all night hum presumably from some generator on the roof we overlooked. We had to have the windows open as there is no air con. The room was just filthy. Photos will explain but everything from thick dust, sticky carpet, cobwebs, stained, unkempt paintwork & walls to broken switches, a cracked sink, a bath that couldn't be used as the tap had been locked to allow only for shower use & the plug torn off. At the excessive price they charge they even begrudge you a bath! No extras, just a cheap container of watered down liquid soap. No hair dryer and non existent furniture. Just some cheap cobbled together wardrobe & bedside table. After 10 minutes waiting for some hot water to appear we gave up which wasn't difficult as I would not have used the towels to save my life. They were not only old, discoloured and stained but I don't believe they had been washed. Ditto the sheets and pillows. There was a badly stained duvet on the cheap, uncomfortable bed without even a cover. When I leaned back on the bed my hair stuck to the headboard. In the UK we would describe this as a dosshouse. The room smelled nasty. Staff obviously have no pride in this establishment which is the worst we have ever stayed in anywhere bar none. The final straw was a pathetic breakfast served in a drab, dark room. How this hotel has any good reviews astounds me. They weren't staying in our room. It was my husband's birthday & fortunately we had a lovely meal at another restaurant because it really spoiled our fortunately one night stay. For 79€ we weren't expecting the Ritz but basic cleanliness we did expect. I would rather sleep on a park bench that set foot in this excuse for a hotel & the first thing we did on returning home was get into a hot shower to scrub the smell off. Never again. If you want good, reasonable accommodation in the Lot et Garonne there is plenty and at reasonable prices but not here. Avoid at all costs. They should be closed down in my opinion at least until they steam clean and refurbish room 9 or similar. Incidentally, it is to be seen on booking sites with 'one room only available' which I think is a con. There was one other sad person at breakfast at 8am & we had no neighbours. It's a one...

I stayed here for two nights to attend a friend's wedding in the area. I wasn't expecting much from the hotel and to be honest was pleasantly surprised that the room was a reasonable size and that everything was clean. The concierge was friendly, there is a lift for heavy bags (its not big so if you don't absolutely need to use it, I'd take the stairs), and the location is great for wandering around the pretty town of Casteljaloux. It is also useful to have a car park, although parking didn't seem to be much of a problem in the town. ||||However, breakfast was disappointing, with not very much on offer for E9 per person. I would recommend going into town and buying something from a boulangerie, and then eating it with a coffee at Le Grand Cafe. The hotel also seems quite expensive in comparison to some of the other accomodation options in the area. In particular, the apartments at Le Bains de Casteljaloux were apparently cheaper, and you get to enjoy the thermal...
