On a Sunday evening, we were looking for a place to eat in this small town, so we popped in to see if they had a table and fortunately they did. A burger was what we had in mind and we saw on the Internet that this place supposedly had some good ones. My wife was also looking for a salad and when we saw they had a Caesar salad all the boxes were checked.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is flea market industrial, which fits completely with a name. We were greeted warmly and given our seats. After looking over the menu, we decided to start with the Caesar salad and split it then later on see what we wanted to move onto. Though I speak broken French, and the waitress only spoke a little bit of English, we finally worked out what our plan was. Everything was done with smiles and friendliness.
We were seated in the bar area, which works for us because in a restaurant like this we like to be around the action. They had a fire pizza oven at the end of the bar so we were able to watch him crank out delicious looking pizzas. They have a wide selection of drinks, including some specifically French cocktails, and beer mixtures. Interesting stuff.
When the salad came, we realized it was a chicken Caesar salad salad. And I gotta say, it was the biggest most complete chicken Caesar salad either of us had ever seen. Four large breaded chicken tenders adorned a massive pile of artisanal lettuce with slices of Parmesan. If you’re coming for large portions, this is a great choice. The salad was delicious, and the chicken tenders were exactly that. Juicy, perfectly seasoned and tender.
I opted to go ahead and order one of their burgers. It came out just as I had asked, nicely, medium rare. The fries are steak cut and properly seasoned. It also comes with a small salad. At €20, it was well in line with what you would pay for a restaurant burger in the United States, especially for the quality of the meat and the size of the portions. No skimping on this Patty it was big.
As we were eating, I noticed that their steaks are dry aged in a case near the front entrance, so it would be a great choice if you’re looking for a French steak and fries plate.
All in all, a super good meal with lots of choices and large portions. The service was quick, but we were never rushed. If we were staying longer in the area, we would definitely have gone back. Apologies for not getting a shot of the burger before we dug in… The food looks so good. I forgot to...
Read moreSpent a lovely evening for a first proper holiday meal at La Brocante in Remoulins, and it was fantastic.
The staff were super friendly and helpful, patient as well considering my broken French, the service was top notch and as for the food, it was so filling we could only manage the main course.
I had the Tentacules De Poulpe (octopus tentacles) with frites and salad, Mum had Filet De Bar (sea bass), also with frites and salad, and considering we're not the most adventurous when it comes to food...
Absolut keine Empfehlung – hier stimmt weder Qualität...
