La Courtille Tavel — Restaurant in Nîmes

Hailing from Raquel Carena’s Le Baratin, chef Natalia has turned this beautiful stone building nestled amongst old world vegetable gardens into a fine dining experience in the middle-of-nowhere Provence. Even amidst a pandemic she has managed to persevere with the most elegant dishes: for lunch a box of tomatoey sweetbreads, melt-in-your-mouth lamb spotted with bright spring peas, a pork salad speckled with house-made pickles, and for dessert which I’m usually never a fan of (especially to go) was a single perfect puff pastry with nothing but fresh cream and strawberries of the season inside. Walked in here because it was a restaurant according to Google and we were hungry after biking to Tavel from Avignon. This meal took like 3 hours? It was awesome this is like an old castle or Manor or something and you sit in the beautiful garden and eventually they bring you a menu on a chalkboard. Kinda between traditional and twists on classics. Food was great lots of fresh vegetables and thoughtful plating and I ate a pancreas, very satisfying.
