Les Carrières — Restaurant in Nîmes

I booked a table for my wife for a dinner on June 13th. Given the fact that the average rating for this restaurant is very high (4.8 as of today) we were expecting to spend a wonderful evening in a pleasant setting with gorgeous food. However our experience was far from what we did expect. Here's a short summary of my objective opinion.

Service was very good : 9/10 The waitress was indeed welcoming and repeatedly checking that we had all we needed.

Food : 5/10 (limited choices besides burgers). The starter that I had, tarte paysanne (I think the name was) was similar to a nice small slice of pizza. See the picture.

Burgers : 9/10 are indeed excellent, thus if you are a burger lover, you most probably will not be disappointed.

The location and surroundings : 3/10 It is located in the countryside however in a small residential.area that certainly is far from charming (close to other houses, small factories that are in need of renovation. As we parked the car I felt that making a call to cancel).

WARNING : Right outside the entrance to the parking lot was a big hole in the ground with a metal part sticking out and no warning signs, very dangerous this I was chocked !

The setting inside : 4/10 It is a big space with a large number of tables and chairs. To me it looks more like a cantine as those you may find in a college.

The setting outside : 5/10 or 8/10 if you bring children with you (the garden is like a playground for kids).

Additional information : This seems to be a popular place for residents nearby who fake engagement  burgers and with kids. There is a pool table inside however it never got noisy a we sat inside...

Déjeuner en famille ce vendredi 10 mai 2024, le cadre est idyllique ! Une belle terrasse extérieure avec des jeux pour enfants et une grande prairie avec des salons de jardin. L’accueil fut très agréable et très souriante, la carte des produits est très alléchante hésitation entre Burger et salades mais vous trouverez bien d’autres suggestions appétissantes. Nous avons en majeure partie choisis des Burgers, tous servis avec des frites maisons. Les pains des Burgers sont faits maison également et agrémentés pour chacun des burgers de noix où tomates séchées où herbes de Provence !!! La taille des Burgers est géante et franchement après avoir mangé dans divers restaurants des Burgers plus ou moins bon celui là du restaurant des Carrières dépasse honnêtement au la main tous les autres Burgers testés! Ils sont succulents bien copieux tous les produits assemblés ont un goût remarquable ! Les frites sont faites Maison et délicieuses. La joue de bœuf était excellente également. Le menu enfant nous avons choisis des tenders faits maison et cela se voit, de vrais morceaux de poulets avec une panure maison ils étaient extra !!! La carte des desserts est originale, première fois que je vois en suggestion une Dame verte ! Tout à la pistache avec crème chantilly maison encore une fois 😉👍 boules pistaches, pistaches en déco, crème de pistache et coulis chocolat = Un régal aussi ! Ended up at this restaurant as my motorbike broke down nearby and they were so welcoming, ended up staying for dinner and it was delicious, they offered me a complimentary shot after dinner and booked me a taxi to get to my hotel. Would definitely recommend it, and if I'm ever in the area again, I will go and eat...
