Perhaps this place is ok if you go there for their expensive meat dishes, but we went for a quick lunch and boy were we disappointed! The MENU de JOUR is available but basically given to you on a tiny piece of paper , literally as you’re ordering. The amuse bouchée arrived with our starter. My Kir aperitif arrived after the starter,& we had to ask for bread. The starters were quite tasty but we were aware that whoever puts the menu together is very financially aware! This isn’t a problem, every business needs to make money….. but add to that the disorganized staff and and inedible main course with the fries 15 minutes late, the whole meal was basically awful. Then, as we were trying to pay, the woman responsible for taking the money stood on her phone ignoring us. We explained to her how our meal was and she offered money off. We declined the offer as we weren’t looking for a discount, just a decent edible meal. Perhaps whoever owns this restaurant needs to decide exactly what their target market is and if you don’t want the “ quick & simple “ customers stop doing the...
Read moreThis is the first time visiting the “new” la Selette and we had a fine meal. Everything was well presented and well prepared. Waits were not excessive. Service was attentive without being intrusive. And the constantly crying child was not the fault of the house. All that having been said, I found nothing that stood out to me as exceptional. The conversation around the table continued through the meal without a single comment about something noteworthy on our plates. Although I had a good piece of beef, I didn’t go for the dry-aged that they feature. Maybe I should have. I guess what I’m saying that it was good, solid dining and perhaps I wanted more. And with a kir, shared starts, plats off the menu, a bottle of local pink, no desserts and no coffees, 50€ per person called for at least one something special. Decide...
Read moreWe liked it and enjoyed our lunch. The menu is very much focused on meat but really not at all clear. There are a list of breeds with a price per 100g and a minimum order of 500g. Which is nearly 18 oz so clearly aimed at two or three people. Precisely what cut or style or accompaniment is not specified. The service isnt speedy...a minute or two to be greeted at the door, five to get a drink. Some sort of amuse bouche was set on the table without explanation (later turned out to be room temperature pumpkin soup). On the other hand the staff were friendly and spoke quite a bit of English. Starters, main courses (steaks) and dessert were all very nice but the frustratingly unclear menu leaves one with a nagging feeling of having missed out on what might have been available but...
