We came here for a quick stop in Eze while driving along the French and Italian Rivieras and had really lovely night. It’s definitely an 'off the beaten path' choice but in the best way possible if you’re looking for a casual meal with great company. Which was exactly what we were after, during a trip filled with so many of the lavish and over the top restaurants that the province is known for.
Pierre and his rambunctious dog James were both warm and super welcoming. We have a large enthusiastic dog like this at home, so for us it was a treat to have him running around, asking for belly rubs and generally losing his mind with excitement the whole time.
The meal itself was good, made with quality ingredients and all super fresh. The starter was a perfect pairing of lightly fried leek cakes with cured meats, rich cheeses and fig jam. The main was herbed pork and potatoes - simple, hearty and very satisfying. For dessert he made a custard berry tart which I liked and my partner loved. There was a nice selection of beer and wine from Pierre’s native region of Corsica and his recommendation of the Domaine Fiumicicoli was a perfect choice.
We stayed a while chatting with Pierre about travel and music, playing with James, feeding his local foxes and generally having a lovely evening getting to know a friendly and interesting local. It was a pleasure all around and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone after something different or to simply take a break from the pomp and perfection that largely dominates the culinary scene in this region....
Read moreMy husband, daughter (6 yrs) and I found this place online (as couple hours ago as I write this) and almost left when we got there as we were not expecting the adorable house to be the restaurant. The owner quickly came out to great us. We are SO glad he did.
We had one of the best meals we've ever had at this little "hole in the wall", with the bonus of his wonderful dog, James, keeping us company. He is a very well behaved boy and will give you all the attention if you want it. He was happily wagging his tail as we drive up.
The owner is lovely. He was very sweet to our daughter. We were the only patrons there, so we felt we had a very personal meal.
I'm not entirely sure what we ate is called, but it was absolutely delicious.
As other people have mentioned, there is no menu and we weren't sure how much it would cost, but we took a chance. There is no option for credit or debit.
All three of us left with full bellies, an amazing experience and high quality food. My daughter gave our meal 100 stars.
If we come back to the area, we will...
Read moreWe had such a great time at La Campagne. If you’re looking for a quirky, special restaurant experience, this is the place for you.
We followed the map to get there, constantly thinking we’d driven the wrong way or that the restaurant must not exist anymore, as it looked so unlikely that there would be a restaurant there, but eventually we found it and I’m so glad we did.
We were greeted by the Corsican man who runs the place, and his friendly dog James, who invited us on to his terrace and set us up with a table overlooking the sea. We were the only customers there at the time and it felt really special.
We had a delicious veal stew and a tomato and mozzarella salad, all while chatting away to the friendly owner. So glad we...
