The hotel is located near the centre of the village and is very easy to find. ||Our arrival co-incided with a trio of musicians setting up in the courtyard ready to perform that evening. A glass of beer listening to them rehearse was a great way to recover from our drive. ||Eric, the owner, could not have been more welcoming and rooms were allocated without fuss. His staff were also very helpful and all seemed to have enough English to fill the gaps in our French. ||The ensuite facilities were adequate behind a curtained area off the bedroom. The bedrooms are full of character. This is an old building but lovingly looked after. ||The stairs to the bedrooms may be challenging for some but this again, to me, added to the ambience of the hotel. It was what you expect of a small French country hotel. ||The view of the town from the bedroom was excellent. ||The weather allowed us to eat outside and to appreciate the food and the music. The wine was excellent value. One of the main courses on offer was a pork dish which was unfortunately slightly overdone but all of the other dishes were first class. Given the high standard of the rest of the food this was a minor issue. Read moreI always come back to this place. It simply is the best unassuming hangout 15 miles around. In the summer the terrace is pleasant and cool, and in the winter the inside room is perfect. The only issue is when the menu de jour they present to you lacks imagination and the restaurant is too crowded. Then it takes time. Time to order, time to get your food, and obviously as a natural consequence the dishes are over cooked, dry. This has happened to me several times over the past years, and included my last visit , tonight, which is why I only give it a three star. So please make an effort. You are the best around. Don't spoil it...||On a positive note , their Tete de Veau was excellent. (Too bad I could not get Mustard with it in spite of my repetitive requests, but I guess this forced me to try it with an Aioli, which was quite a surprising combination...
