La Capitainerie / L’annexe — Restaurant in Orléans

This lovely bistro surprised us, a perfect fit for a memorable evening with a beautiful, unique exposure  to the river Loire. It is impressive what kind of delicious dishes Claire and Denis prepare in this  compact location. The food was very tasty and made with fresh ingredients. You also get tasty local beers, wines and soft drinks. Claire is very kind, speaks Frensh, English and German, plus if time is left, they take some extra care about guests after dinner by walking around for a nice small talk and a free glas of sparkling wine :-)

As usual in France, main dishes are served starting from 7 pm. We would recommend to book a table upfront as the location is quite busy on Sundays with nice weather. Plus, Claire and Denis honestly explain that they only have a limited bandwidth on such busy days.

P.S.: We visited La Capitainerie on a stopover in Meung -sur-Loire,  Sunday evening. Most of the locations with "kids-compatible" food were closed downtown. Our children also found the poulet to be a tasty main course and truly enjoyed...

My Wife and I only had one night in town and we were lucky enough to go to La Capitainerie. The owners who operate this restaurant are wonderful people and excel at what they do. A beautiful husband and wife, he is the chef and I mean a proper chef, she runs the service and is as lovely as possible. Great wine selection and the food is extraordinary, but it is the character and spirit of the owners that makes it so much more special. Thank you Denny and Claire for an amazing evening....

This wonderful restaurant is a hidden gem. Everything about it is spectacular and wonderful. The food is delicious, the wine wonderful, the service phenomenal and the location beautiful. We arrived after a long journey and Claire took such wonderful care of us the entire time.
