Bar Restaurant de la Douane — Restaurant in Périgueux

Because there was no place outside we were offered a table inside. The hygiene was terrible, everywere there were dead flies, even onze on the table. We mentioned it to the waitress, she didn’t seem to care! We were offered another table but there were dead flies everywhere inside… because my boys were very hungry we ordered pizza for them. My daugther and I orders a salad (what could go wrong with that?). The food was almost as bad as the interior: the pizza’s must have been heated in the microwave (the cheese was bearly melted) and the salad was perhaps slightly better of you like empty camembert ‘holes’ (it looked like fried camembert but without the camembert inside: it must have been melted and slipped away during cooking). We were not very impressed the first time we visited this restaurant however some friends asked us to join them and we decided to give it another chance. We really wished we hadn't, the food was very poor, me and a friend ordered fish and chips and it was dreadfull. The fish was reconsituted fish in a thick soggy batter - I've bought and cooked better frozen fish from a supermarket! The chips were very thin and luke warm and the salad was dressed just with balsamic vinegar (no oil) so was too tart to eat. The waitress was fine until we complained about the fish and then she became verbally rude, this was followed by her completely ignoring us so I had to go in to pay the bill, she refused to speak to me and was very offhand. No way will we set foot anywhere near this place again and we certainly would not...

A little disappointed, we were told on entering that we should have thought of reserving a table, although there were lots of tables that were never taken during our visit. The waitress was not the most pleasant, we are English but speak reasonable French, but she was still not very helpful, felt like we were not supposed to be there. Menu could have been more explanatory, ingredients of pizzas not shown, pizzas were more rubbery cheese than much else and no salad was served with them of any kind. Would...
