A Slice of Périgord Heaven at Chez Julien Nestled in the picturesque village of Paunat, Chez Julien is a culinary gem that deserves an excellent review. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were enveloped in the warmth of Julien and his exceptional team. The welcome was genuine, heartfelt, and immediately set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.

But it's the food that truly steals the show. Each dish at Chez Julien is a testament to the region's rich culinary heritage, crafted with passion and precision. We savored every bite, from the delicate appetizers to the robust main courses and the decadent desserts. It's clear that Julien pours his heart into his cooking, and the result is nothing short of extraordinary.

The atmosphere is charmingly rustic, reflecting the beauty of the surrounding Dordogne countryside. It's a place where time seems to slow down, allowing you to fully appreciate the simple pleasures of good food and good company. Chez Julien is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's a place where you're treated like family, where the food is sublime, and where memories are made. If you find yourself in Paunat, or even remotely close, do yourself a favour and book a table. You won't be...

What a beautiful restaurant, I visited with a great friend who has known this restaurant over a number of years. A wonderful greeting and an accommodation for me to make a starter into main course. A gorgeous aperitif and divine red wine to accompany our food. My crème brûlée for desert was the best I have tasted ever! It was simply divine. A word on the service, to counter some of the rather unkind words from elsewhere. I know some French and understand a good deal but am slow and ponderous to speak the language. I was treated with warmth, patience and courtesy by Julien and his young serveuse. Small acts to say s’il vous plaît and merci go a long way. On departure we were wish bonne soirée and au revoir by both owner and staff. A sensational meal, with sublime food and wine and brilliant service....

We were lucky enough to find Chez Julian during a holiday in the area last week. We travelled with another Family, and both couples got to come here on one evening. We were completely “wowed” by the whole experience! The setting was like something out of a dream, or a movie. We would gladly have tried one of every item on the menu, which was extensive, with 2 set menu options as well as a la carte to choose from. We were more than happy with the selections we made! Julien himself is the most gracious host. He made us feel like his own personal guests, without being any way over-bearing. We thank Julien for an unforgettable dining experience, and very much hope to visit again...

We are lucky to be staying in an area which is not too touristy. This restaurant was recommend by the people that own the lovely house we are staying in. The setting is lovely though sadly as soon ad we sat down outside it started to rain. It didn’t matter as it was still warm and we had an umbrella and tree, we did have the option to sit on the terrace but declined. Julien is a lovely host, we decided to have the set menu. I had feta and tomato starter, my partner had the smoked salmon, we both had the pork which was very tasty then for dessert I had crème brûlée. Well worth the money. I would recommend this restaurant as the setting and food was perfect.
