Le Bistroquet — Restaurant in Poitiers

We were part of a larger group staying just the one night in July. Firstly the location was right on a fairly busy road with really no other attractions. The town itself was dead with no food to be had anywhere after 9pm.||The hotel staff were quite helpful in lending me an adaptor.||The room itself was like stepping into an Ikea warehouse - nothing but the bare essentials. The weather was hot and there was no way of fully opening the windows - no a/c and the shutters were fennel shaped so at night the very noisy mopeds and lorries were amplified 3-fold . ||Breakfast was a croissant, ham cheese and orange juice. The bar lady was however provide a group og 9 of us with 2 baguettes and some pate after 9- oh and left...

On arrival at lunch time we enjoyed a very good buffet meal, much appreciated after a long morning's walk. Our rooms upstairs we found to be rather spartan. Small, white painted and spare, barely room for the bed, a small book shelf and desk, but nowhere for my bag. Just as well I was not sharing. Only one pillow, and just one small ampule of body wash and no soap in the small bathroom. Everything was clinically clean, functional, but with no warmth or charm. Dinner was hearty; entrées and deserts came from the bar and the main course generous in size. Breakfast was pretty standard and the fresh fruit and yogurt was welcome. Expect all the basics here, and very acceptable meals. The staff are friendly...
