Le Cinq — Restaurant in Prades

We ate at this restaurant last night and while it was okay, we were both left feeling a little disappointed after the glowing reviews left by others. We ate outside and there was plenty of sun coverage, which was good. There wasn't a huge choice on the menu and a few of the options were spicy, so if you have any picky eaters in your party, you might struggle.

Some of the food choices were interesting. My friend's steak came with a small scoop of ratatouille, a streak of sweet potato and a slice of watermelon... It did look like a nice steak though. I had the seiche which came in tomato sauce with rice, so I was a bit confused as to why it came with a dollop of aioli on the side. The food was okay. It was well cooked for what it was. My dessert in particular was rather nice - I had the lime and ginger crème catalan and it had obviously been made with fresh ginger and lime. Very nice.

I think our biggest issue was the service. When we arrived the guy was friendly and attentive. We ordered fairly quickly and our drinks arrived quickly, but the more people arrived, the more it went downhill. It took close to 10 minutes to get some salt and when the time came to pay, there was no-one in sight and we sat for almost 20 minutes waiting for someone to come and take the card, despite other tables having been cleared quickly in that time. Gorgeous restaurant in an idyllic town in the Pyrenees. We ate the formule, splitting the two choices of mains; one being a lovely plate of grilled porc and home made fries. The other a chicken mafe with lovely peanuty aromatic rice. For dessert we both got the panna cotta with home made peach coulis which can only be described as divine. For 20 euros you will not be able to eat much better than this in France. Could not...
