Bar Restaurant Le Doris — Restaurant in Quimper

The "Le Doris", also known as "Chez Emma" is located on the harbour of Keriti, in the second flour. So, with a bit of luck, you'll find yourself beautifully suited with a view on the ships outside, watching the tides, as they come and go.

A nice old lady ("Emma"?), most likely the proprietor, acts as the head waitress. In most cases, she is taking the order, handling the bills, etc.

The restaurant seems to be in business for quite some time. Consequently, it is the most traditional of all the restaurants we've visited in Penmarch. For example, in the restaurants center you'll notice a big sea water basin with some 15 lobsters. If someone orders a lobster, you can watch the poor beast being taken out of the basin and brought to the table 20-30 minutes later. (Our daughter was close to tears when she watched catching a lobster, because she feared, it would be her favourite, or "the cutest") animal.

Of course, the menu includes a lot of assorted crustaceae: Prawns, Crayfish, Crabs, and Lobster, but also Sea Shells (Palourdes). I'd recommend, in particular, the Chevrez Chaude (baked goat cheese), and the Palourdes for starters. For the main course, I had veal in a red wine sauce, which I extremely liked. I'd also like to recommend the Mayonnaise, that comes with the crustaceae: It is most likely based on butter, rather than olive oil, and tasted extremely well. In general, everything that we had, was high quality food, and well prepared. Besides, the Le Doris is relatively inexpensive, with 22€ for a 3-course-menu (Entree, Plat, Desert), or 30€ for four courses (Entree Froide, Entree Chaude, or cold and warm starters, Main, and Dessert).

Décors désuet. On espère se rattraper dans l'assiette mais malgré le prix, le repas est assez décevant. L'entrée de langoustines était simple mais bonne. En revanche, les plats étaient cuisinés à la façon des années 60 : poisson en sauce accompagné de 2 pommes de terre, un morceau de carotte, un morceau de panais (je précise qu'on était en plein été) et un morceau de courgette (seul légume de saison). Dessert décevant également : crème brûlée minuscule ; profiterole avec pâte à choux sèche. On ne prend pas de café pour partir assez vite - on a promis aux enfants de se baigner avant de faire les valises pour le départ le lendemain. Au moment de payer, le gag : la gérante nous annonce que l'appareil CB ne fonctionne pas et nous demande chèque, espèces, tickets restau papier ou chèques vacances. Elle le savait quand on est arrivé mais ne l'a pas annoncé. Sinon on serait allé manger ailleurs. La carte ticket-restau ne passe pas ; on n'a pas de chéquier et les 50€ d'espèces sont très insuffisants. On lui propose un virement instantané ou un paiement par téléphone mais elle ne connait pas son RIB et nous dit que le distributeur est à 5min. Avec mon référentiel parisien je crois que c'est 5' à pieds : non, c'est 8' de voiture aller et autant au retour. Au total, plus de 20', avec un retrait en-dehors de ma banque qui m'est facturé et l'essence pour ma pomme. Pendant tout ce temps, mon conjoint reste dans la salle avec les 3 enfants sans aucune occupation (la gérante ne veut pas qu'ils sortent dehors) : chaleur étouffante ; elle ne propose ni café pour le papa, ni boule de glace ou verre de sirop pour les enfants. Evidemment, les enfants se chamaillent puisqu'ils n'ont rien à faire. Au moment de payer, la gérante ne s'excuse pas et ne fait aucun geste. L'emplacement est idéal mais le cadre et la cuisine sont à mettre au goût du jour et l'accueil est à revoir, notamment en cas...

Sehr, sehr gut. Der Eingang durch die Bar, hat den typischen Charakter einer Dorfkneipe. Sollte aber nicht abschrecken. Im Gegenteil. Das Restaurant ist im ersten Stock. Es ist gemütlich, mit Blick auf das Meer. Es macht den Eindruck eines lang geführten Familien Betriebes, was es bestimmt auch ist. Der mit Leib und Seele geführt wird. Das Personal ist sehr nett. Und jetzt kommt es. Das Essen: "super lecker". Ich hätte am liebsten hinterher den Teller abgeleckt. Wenn man hier an diesem Ort ist, sollte man dieses Lokal unbedingt aufsuchen. Kleiner Tipp. Wenn man früh an ist, hat man Glück einen Platz für zwei Personen zu bekommen. Etwas später also so gegen 19:30Uhr sollte man vorher reservieren. Mit mehreren Personen lieber gleich reservieren. Das Restaurant wird auch sehr gern von den Landsleuten aus der Region besucht. Ich wünsche euch viel Spaß und guten Appetit. Auch die Gegend hier ist einen längeren Aufenthalt werd. Sehr ruhig und entspannt. Leider lässt Corona es nicht zu, das wir noch eine Weile bleiben. Aber wir werden ganz bestimmt wieder kommen.
