La Voilerie — Restaurant in Quimper

"La Voilerie" seems to me to be founded by one or more young people with lots of experience in, and their own opinions on, gastronomy, but without more money, than necessary. (Compared, for example, to "Les Rochers".)

What's immediately attracting, is the informal atmosphere inside. It's hardly a surprise, that natives and tourists are enjoying themselves. I also liked the fact, that the menu isn't printed, but written on chalk boards. That allows for frequent modifications of the menu, and they seem to make use of that, which is a pleasant surpsrise, if you are returning.

The menu is nonorthodox: Unlike other restaurants in Brittany, external influences (In case of a Breton: This includes the mediterranean France) are welcome. Nevertheless, traditional sea food (crustaceae, in particular) is also present. (Penmarch is a fishers town, after all).

Everything we had, was of high quality, and well prepared. I'd recommmend, in particular, the breaded Feta, the Foie Gras de Maison (You may beat me for that, but I did like it.) and the Scallop Ravioli.

In general, we liked the "La Voilerie" so much, that we came again...

Enjoyed their 29€ 3 course menu "Ardoise" on a warm evening sitting outside with the lighthouse as a backdrop. Tasty food, well presented, good portion sizes. Deserts particularly good. Take a jumper if you're sitting outside. I rang to book earlier in the day. We sat down to eat at 7:30pm, and anyone turning up on spec after that was turned away. There's a children's menu for 7€. Time your meal right and afterwards you can wander round to the sea wall and...

Ce petit restaurant ne paye pas de mine, pas de vue imprenable sur la mer malgré la promiscuité avec le phare mais cela permet de se concentrer sur ce que l'on mange et c'est bien là l'essentiel. Habituellement fermé le lundi, cette ouverture exceptionnelle pour la saint Valentin est une bénédiction surtout en cette période de vacances d'hiver où beaucoup de restaurant sont fermés pour reprendre des forces avant la saison. Les prix sont corrects, menu du jour à 16€ et 19€ pour EPD. Un menu enfant à 12€50, un peu au dessus de la moyenne des prix mais une assiette presque aussi garnie que pour le plat de jour et avec les mêmes ingrédients, ça change du poisson pané frites. Le menu st Pierre a 33€ est vraiment excellent, tout comme le menu du jour. De bonne Surprise comme ce délicieux sorbet Cornichons qui accompagne divinement l'entrée de charcuterie ou cette glace à base Lambig qui accompagne à merveille un kouign amann et sa sauce caramel. Le filet mignon est très bon et cuit rosé comme il faut, le pain se présente sous forme de mini pain aux diverses saveurs, seule fausse note, A la troisième corbeille on vous ramènera du plain plus classique qui vous recentrera sur votre menu. Le service est correct, ni trop rapide, ni trop long. La salle est agréable. Une bonne adresse pour très bien manger sans se ruiner.
