We visited the cafe this afternoon. A really lovely place with an incredible view and really tastefully decorated. Cake and coffee were good.
We ordered in English as we don't speak French that well. The waitress was very unfriendly when she realized that we didn't speak French and although she was fluent in English (when ordering she replied in fluent English), in further contact she simply replied in French. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome and can't understand how such a vibe can arise in such a young cafe. Monsieur Papier is located in one of the most touristy places in Brittany, so you should be used to tourists coming, not all of whom speak French. Also, itâs 2024 and we live in Europe.

My husband asked for a piece of pie and before he could finish his sentence, the girl behind the counter cut him off saying: THEY ARE ALL RESERVED!! Instead of saying: I apologize sir, these are reserved for another table but would you like to try out the two other kinds? How hard is it?? Why do you have to talk in in such a rude manner? You work in a beautiful area. You have the ocean and the trees right in front of you and around you and customers who are happy to be here and spend their hard earned money at your place...WHY?

We tried the smoked salmon plate as the 5 smoked fish dish wasnât available and got 2 thin slices of salmon on a bit of salad accompanied by some kind of cold potato mash and a few slices of bread for 18 euros!!!
