Lys Du Roy — Restaurant in Reims

I write this review in English to access the most possible readers.

When searching for authentic "cuisine de campagne" only a short and pleasing ride south of Reims, this is a very pleasing address.

Dishes are prepared with care and really only contain homemade recipes. Stick with the set menus and You will not be disappointed. Seasoning and preparation are classic french style.

As is the setting in a historic farm site building. Do not expect "formal dining" here or anything that comes near this. It is just pure plain french atmosphere with a basic approach to everything apart from the food and drinks.

This accompanied with very attentive stuff who is always willing to share a smile and is humorous makes this a very lovely experience.

I add a photo from a bottle of champagne as this is family-related to the restaurant and the "bubbly" is enormously leasing and great value for money. Vinery is just two villages away!

For lunch this is gerat value for money. I am afraid that places like these will vanish over time with landlords retiring and no successor in sight. What a shame...

Booked this place as it was close to our B&B, with no real expectations. The host seemed a bit stressed because of incorrect reservations and had to shuffle a couple of tables. But given the fact it's hard to find staff these days, we didn't really bother... After everything and everyone was settled, we saw the impressive Champagne and wine card. Would've been nice to seem additional Champagnes by the glass though. Limited menu card, but still appealing. We had a 3-course menu for €37 and the chef did a great job from start to end. Dishes looked great and the taste was well-balanced on every dish. Great value for money...

My wife and I shared a wonderful meal at Lys du Roy. A kind waiter at a nearby restaurant recommended it and sorted a reservation for us when his own place was full.
