Visiting Volvic on the way back home on Sunday we had trouble finding a place for lunch as it was almost 2 pm and the town looked deserted... We ended up at the restaurant of hotel du commerce and it is exactly the kind of unexpected experience we were looking for. Amicable service. Fresh and local products and an interesting Côte d'Auvergne at a very cheap price (12 euros a bottle). The terrine maison and the charcuterie were simple but my grand mother would not have done any better. The paleron and supreme de volaille were cooked just right, melting in the mouth but without being dry, accompanied with fresh mushrooms and lardons. Authentic and tasty. The deserts, crumble aux pommes and mousse au chocolat were equally simple and pleasant. And since we did not finish the wine bottle we were offered to take it away. Three of us arrived on three motorcycles. The owner was a biker and advised us to park next to his bike on the area outside the restaurant.
