L'Honorable Cachette — Restaurant in Romorantin-Lanthenay

We were on our way back from Chenonceau on the buke trail and found this local eatery to be open by using Google Maps so we took a slight detour into town. We were immediately greeted by the owner and seated in the back. English translated menus were easily accessible using a QR code on the table. We ordered a local rose wine and some sparkling water. For the meal we chose the plat du jour, beef and onions, and the croque monsieur. The food was ok, but the beef could use more sauce for the pasta. The 2 cheeses on the croque overwhelmed the meager ham slices. The fresh lettuce with balsamic was the best.

To start on a positive note, the service was wonderful, and the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. However, the food did not meet our expectations. We began with the tapas, which were disappointing, definitely not up to par. The croque monsieur, on the other hand, was enjoyable, though it’s a relatively simple dish to prepare. Went in for a beer. Ordered a cheese board and sampler plate. Both were great. The lady who served us spoke a little English and used Google translate to help when trying to explain something to is. Basically she thought we were ordering too much food. And she was right. We took home leftovers. Which was kind of what we planned anyway. We wanted to have snacks at the place we rented.
