La Table d'Elsa — Restaurant in Saint-Étienne

If you feel things are not quite what you expected when you walk into this place, I advise you just to go with it. You won't regret it!

The food is very good, although you're going to be eating from a small menu du jour rather than the carte you'll find online. The day we ate there, there was a choice of pumpkin flan with cep velouté or crème du barry, followed by either confit duck leg with potatoes boulangère or haddock in beurre blanc with carrots. All these things were very well made, as was the raspberry tart we ate for dessert.

The dining room is in a beautiful, if slightly ramshackle, old house. The chef patron works singlehanded. Don't expect glamour or anything fancy - but do enjoy some classic French provincial food of the kind that is hard...

We drove by and noticed it was open around 930pm. Although it was late for us to be served, we were seated and served an amazing meal! Sandrine was our waitress, although very busy, she was very attentive and patient. Great service, great food, we will be back when we visit France...

Dans une maison bourgeoise, des petites pièces qui permettent d'être isolé des autres convives, c'est plutôt sympa si on veut "privatiser" une salle.

Tables dressées avec des nappes et serviettes en tissus.

Formule du jour , plat+dessert (18€) ou entré+dessert , sinon des menus complets à 24 et 36€.

Les plats sont bien cuisinés, originaux, bien présentés et faits maison.

Dans la formule plat/dessert, j'ai eu un ris d'agneau avec ses légumes du soleil et une tarte citron meringuée avec une boule de glace.

A signaler , petite mise en bouche et avant le dessert , mini meringues et gâteau sablé/chocolat.
