Restaurant Le Clos Bleu — Restaurant in Saint-Gaudens

What a pleasant surprise! We've been living in the nearby village for 3 years but we have never tried it until last night. Full menu with variety of choices - 4 set priced menus and a la carte. It's not a haute cuisine, but pleasant atmosphere and nice little touches and extra made it a little more than just a quick eating out. Place was interesting part of former estate, with several enormous old trees including 150 plus years old lime tree. We had 32 euro set menu to try out. - on top of 4 course meal, they served us, starting with savory appetizer, then velute of carrot mise en bouche. Then chosen starter. Before the main course, home made grape sorbet was served to clean the palate. Main course we chose was interesting - lamb sweetbreads, kidney and cepe with parmesan source. It was different and very nice. They have chosen their ingredients and menu focusing on the local area, Gascon. Cheeses were all local - one in particular was in the next village, and she explained to us about the farm. They sell not only cheese, also butter, yogurt and fresh milk! We'll certainly be going there! She gave us the details. It's always nice when they know where exactly each cheese came from. Then dessert and coffee. OK, it wasn't a 4/5 star restaurant but we could see their extra touch and effort, making it more than normal French local restaurants mainly with grilled meat and chips. Well , what can i say. The food is fabulous with many free interludes between courses that are not expected. The food is of the highest quality and very reasonably priced. The staff are mostly family and really attentive without interfering, the whole experience was real french cuisine in a world where is getting harder to find this. A unique enjoyable evening at great prices. Id heartedly recommend this place. It should be fully booked every night and perhaps it’s quiet location is all that stops it being so. So glad...

Quelle bonne surprise ce restaurant au pied des Pyrénées ! dans un cadre calme et verdoyant, nous avons savouré une cuisine goûteuse, inventive et généreuse, et bénéficié d'un service irréprochable, subtil mélange de tact et de savoir faire. Nous étions 5 et avons tous pris des plats différents, menus ou à la carte. Notre constat a été unanime : qu'il s'agisse de salades, de grillades, de viandes, de produits régionaux, de poissons, ganbas de fromages ou de desserts, tout était savoureux, cuit à point, à la bonne température, et très bien présenté ! Et ce n'est pas tout : les conseils pour les vins, la propreté des lieux, les petites surprises à l'apéro et entre les plats, les spécialités du chef, les chocolats !
