Restaurant L'Erablo Val Cenis — Restaurant in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne

Very friendly staff who were great at describing any of the dishes asked about. Very reasonable prices especially as the portions were huge, starters could easily be half the size. The carpaccio was melt in the mouth tender, covered in parmesan and cracked pepper. The goats cheese topped baked apple and red peppers, deliciously balanced and really good with the very light and airy home-made seaded tin loaf bread. I had the salade d'erablo which was full of cheese and perfectly cooked al dente courgette and butternut squash. I requested it without onion which they happily obliged but unfortunately for me it had a lot of raw garlic that I didn't expect. If you like raw garlic you will love this. I think there was raw garlic in the raspberry dressing. All the mains were large portions. The fillet de mignon fumé had a wonderful smoky flavour reminiscent of the smoked chicken one can easily buy in the supermarket, paired beautifully with the blue de boneval sauce. Incredibly tender with polenta and perfectly cooked seasonal veg dusted with a parsley and raw garlic topping. The baverois dessert had a lovely strong raspberry flavour and light sponge bottom, I personally would have preferred it with a touch less gelatine but others on my table disagreed! I will definitely go again and bring friends but most likely only have a starter and pudding or just a main due to the quantity provided but would prefer to have every course if they could be...

Nachdem wir das dritte Restaurant erfolglos angefahren hatten (waren Anfang Oktober mit unserem Camper hier auf der Durchreise unterwegs), hatten wir bei diesem Restaurant Erfolg.

Wir waren die ersten und wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt. Es war zum Glück auch kein Problem, dass wir unsere Hündin mit rein nehmen durften.

Da wir zu dem Zeitpunkt, die einzigen Gäste waren, wurde uns auch schnell das Essen serviert. Wir hatten uns beide für das Cordon Bleu entschieden, welches super lecker war und toll angerichtet ankam.

Später kamen weitere Gäste, die das Raclette bestellt hatten, welches auch super aussah!

Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und wir konnten uns sogar etwas auf Deutsch verständigen. Auch das Restaurant an sich war sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und bot ein schönes Ambiente.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war auch wirklich klasse!

Da wir in der Nacht noch weiterfahren mussten, sind wir nach dem Essen auch bald aufgebrochen.
