Le Genty Home — Restaurant in Saint-Malo

I loved this place. The proprietress, a tall Dutch goddess named Chantal (sp?) is extremely welcoming and funny, and speaks perfect English...not a must for me as I speak enough French to get by in a restaurant, but it's certainly nice to have someone say "Let's speak English, I need the practice" with a warm smile.

The atmosphere was cozy; the local Breton architecture of granite walls and heavy wood ceiling beams was complimented by a lively color scheme and beautiful contemporary art.

The food was great and Chantal's wine pairing suggestions were spot-on. I had the menu "Genty Home" for 35 E. Noix St. Jaques served with a delicate sauce and salad, the main course was assorted preparations of veal (superlative) and the dessert was an unbelievably delicious assortment of chocolate ganauche/mousses(?) (sorry, I'm not a food critic or a chef). You will leave stuffed.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It's not the easiest thing in this area of Brittany to find a beautifully decorated restaurant with excellent food and a welcoming atmosphere; usually at least one of those attributes is missing. If you're in the area you should...

We were on our way to another restaurant and spotted this very busy place so decided to try for a table. We were met at the entrance by a very friendly guy who lead us to the terrace. Lovely location and very busy. We were given a translation of the menu and chose our main meals and desserts. All staff on site were super friendly and very professional. The presentation of the food astounding vibrant and fresh. My wife absolutely loved her very creative vegetarian dish the chef constructed❤️ I went for steak with a pepper sauce which was the same absolutely fantastic. The presentation of all dishes incredible and the desserts really really rocked! The added bonus of a free dessert and a candle lit sorbet that really rocked courtesy of the table next to us 😂We loved it! If they ask🤔. What a special place! This was the best meal I had in France during a week visit. Chantal is a wonderful hostess and her chef husband truly cooks with love. When you want to sit and enjoy the surroundings ocf a 400 year old structure and great people over a splendid meal this is a wonderful place to be.
