Yesterday, 20/02/2019 My father booked a table for dinner at 7:30PM .
We arrived and the place looked nice and we were received well.
We placed an order for drinks and then ordered our main meals:
2 children’s burger meals 1 adult burger 1 omelette
The food arrived and it was like nothing we had experienced before. The burger buns were as hard as rocks- overtoasted stake bread - and all 3 came the same - we asked the waiter where the adult burger was and he said it was the same as the children’s burger - however according to the menu the adult burger was supposed to be €15 and include onions, tomato etc this has 1/4 of a tomato and rock buns no other of the adult only garnishes in sight.
The burgers came with potatoes that had been microwaved - they were so disgusting - hard, oily and chewy, certainly not fresh. The waiter said he had just made them, fresh, himself!
Upon hearing this I asked where the chef was and he informed us that the chef wasn’t there that evening and he was doing the cooking.
I ask at the point why when we rang to reserve a table weren’t told there wasn’t actually a chef! A restaurant is NOT a restaurant if there is not chef!
We asked for the burgers to be removed as they were inedible - I would not feed that to my worst enemy.
So 2 children and one adult sat there and waited while one person ate an omelette.
To think this restaurant has 4* is an absolute joke!
We had been to this restaurant a year ago and had an exemplary experience - it is safe to say that is not what happened yesterday.
Which management would leave a lowly waiter to run and cook for an entire restaurant?
Our last night in France was completely ruined and there is only the Auberge to thank for that.
Please pay attention to your staff and their abilities - or in this case, the lack thereof and do not have a restaurant open if you do not...
Read moreAfter receiving a reasonable welcome we were shown to our room which i have to say was very nice, well decorated and clean, the bathroom room was very modern with a superb shower. the bed was comfortable and the room was warm. tea and coffee was available, but no milk was supplied, now surely a lot of British people must stay here, i can't believe that they don't know that we like milk with our tea and coffee. Dinner was a big disappointment, a poor choice of food, hot dog or chicken and a veg pie, no starter was on offer, , i had the chicken, which was a small chicken leg, lettuce and over cooked potato wedges, sweet was a dry chocolate tart, no cream or ice cream with it. Im not a big eater but even i was left feeling hungry. My wife and i only had a soda water and lime each for drinks, plus awful strong coffee, for this poor excuse of a dinner we were charged 50 euros. Breakfast was actually very good, its just a shame we were let down with dinner. If they could get dinner sorted my rating would be...
Read moreWe went for a quiet couple of days. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room clean , large bathroom but no TV. Food cooked to order from a limited but interesting menu. Three options in starters, mains and puds with a daily special. Separate bar area with good beer. Dedicated car park and outside garden space. Easy access to local area attractions and only one hour away from the coast. This is a traditional building and rooms access is up a stone stairway which is not suitable for those with mobility problems. A really good place for a quiet simple away weekend or short stay for singles, couples and families...
