I’d heard of this restaurant via the ‘New Life in the Sun’ tv programme and had wanted to visit. ||Although this venue is about an hours drive from Bergerac I wanted to make the effort, if only to see the picturesque setting, fortunately though the setting is the icing on the cake. ||The venue is very spacious and unless the weather is bad I would make every effort to set in the (covered) outdoor space. The views over the Dordogne are stunning. ||The waiting staff are extremely friendly and helpful and certainly add to the relaxed atmosphere. ||As a reference I had the IPA which is home brewed, and I only wish I’d been able to have a second (and possibly third !)||I decided to combine my starter (onions rings) with the ‘Hot Stone Steak’ … for those (like me) who didn’t fully realise what this is … cubes of raw fillet steak are supplied with a frighteningly hot stone where you cook these steak on … yourself …. at the table. This is a unique experience and really is worth having a go at. Having done so I think I’ve probably learned to be better at it next time. Beware though that whilst you are cooking your steak your fries (and in my case Onion Rings) are cooling. ||Nevertheless I was reasonably satisfied with my results. ||For dessert I tried the Cheesecake (with red berries) and a latte. ||The Cheesecake is homemade and I would 100% recommend it …. Actually I would happily eat a whole one to myself !!||The night I was in there were about 25 or so others, including some dogs which I was more than happy about. The place had a nice buzz about it. ||Yes. This is a very good review and yes not only would I go again without hesitation but I would 100% recommend others to go but I would just add a very small word of caution. The restaurant is right next to a bridge and certainly at points when several cars were going by it was a slight distraction so be prepared for that. I would in its defence point out I was solo at this and so maybe external noise was slightly...

Brasseurs du Pont in Siorac restaurant & hotel and on site mini brewery
See their website for useful up to date information.
LOCATION
Siorac close, (next to ) to the bridge over the Dordogne
PARKING
This can be a little difficult as the turning is a little way before the restaurant and down a little lane ending up by the river with a nice beach, with a canoe rental location.
The steps up to the restaurant are very steep so I would advise dropping people off at the top of the lane on route to the car park.
WELCOME
We were welcomed by the proprietors who explained their approach.
OVERALL APPEARANCE
We have driven past it many times,
The new owners have converted the building to its new purpose, and it has the appearance of a welcoming, warm, friendly place.
Excellent front of house welcome.

FOOD OFFERING
The menu was not huge but had a good set of offerings.
We chose a beer from the brewery.
There were a number of waiting staff, all of whom seemed to glide between the tables which were at the river end of the large building. This area had an open aspect with views over the river. One downside was people smoking, while some were eating.
Serving staff were fast, efficient and attendant, and follow-up orders promptly delivered.
The kitchen staff must have been on the ball , as we saw many food orders being served.
We picked the fish and chips from the menu for 15 Euros. The fish was very good, nice crisp batter, served with tartar sauce, we both enjoyed it.
While there, we were entertained by an excellent young lady singing and playing her guitar. It topped off the event.
DEPARTURE
Take care when joining the main road! It can be fast at times.

Read moreHad the most amazing 2 day stay on our trip through Spain & France in April.
We were greeted with a very warm welcome from the hosts Chris & James, what a superb location, excellent food and drink, spotlessly clean rooms & bedding and a gorgeous family dog called Ben ❤
Firstly the location is breathtakingly beautiful, it was our first time in this area (as per a few of our fellow guests who had watched the transformation on A New Life in the Sun) and decided to visit and we were not disappointed.
Sipping a drink on the terrace overlooking the river whilst the sun was shining was so relaxing and calming.
The locals have also embraced Chris, James & Ben and you can evidently see genuine fondness that the old dilapidated building has been brought back to life by them.
We visited over the weekend, had breakfast (hearty) light lunch and evening meals, the food was excellent as was the beer brewed by James who is also the chef, Chris is front of house and together they make excellent hosts.
They have regular French customers along with the visiting tourists so there's a real friendly buzz about the place, they also have regular French customers for Sunday lunch....need I say more!!
We highly recommend a visit, well done Chris & James your hard work and dedication has definitely paid off, we look forward to returning next year on our trip home to the UK.
Thanks for a...
