So I think I can explain what has happened here and why the mixed reviews.

We were on holiday here at the same time of year in 2024. The reception was amazing. The young lady who served us spoke perfect English (with an American accent) so much that I asked her what part of America she was from. When she told me she was from Saint Cyprien and had learned English from TV and Radio I was amazed. Anyway, I digress. The food and service was excellent. I think she told us her father (the Chef) was trained in Paris and sought a quieter life in rural France serving up the greatest salads, wraps, great lunches like steak and frites, cous cous, burgers etc. She made us amazing cold coffees in glasses with metal straws and allowed us to go and sit by the river with them. The food was top quality. We indulged in 2024 and it was a popular location, busy and we couldn't wait to come back.

Fast forward to 2025 and the first thing I noticed was ALL of the lego from the back room was missing (something the boys were looking forward to seeing and had been talking about for the last 6 months). All of the posters of great English & American rock bands had disappeared.... oh oooh was my first thought, this looks like its changed hands. We'd waited all year for one of the cold coffees and this cafe was one of the main reasons we came back to this spot. I had even learned French to try and impress someone who had self taught the English language to perfection.

Anyway, a new waitress walked over to me, there was NOBODY in the entire restaurant. She muttered something in French and I said in my broken French that I would like a cold coffee..... nothing...... I said "Cafe Glace?"...... she screwed her face and barked "Cafe? avec Glace?" I said "Frappe?" she said "ooooh oui". She brought me a small espresso shot in a cardboard cup and a glass full of ice cubes. Even with my broken French I cannot understand in what world anyone would order such a thing from a cafe in 40 degrees heat or even in the darkest days of winter. I cannot understand how we got from a broken French stand off to a shot of coffee with an accompanying glass full of ice. Common sense did not prevail even with a clear language barrier!

I am not the typical English tourist expecting everyone to speak English, I am fluent in 3 other languages, I have just never learned French, I have however spent the last year learning the language to a degree where I could get by everywhere else I visited in the region this time round. I am now questioning whether she was even French at all?

Anyway, my point is this... the owners have changed hands since last year and what was onec one of THE places to hang out by the river in the heat of the Dordogne valley has become empty, soulless and kind of a waste of a visit. Nous avons réservé 15 j avant pour l'anniversaire de notre fille pour 5 personnes Les plats commandés en même temps. La serveuse très souriante mais semble perdu. La terrasse était à peine un quart pleine..donc loin d'être comble! Une fois notre apéritif terminé Foie gras servi très bon. On deguste!! ...... Nous demandons du pain pour terminé notre foie... Qui n'arrive pas!..... sauf que notre plat 2 assiettes de confits arrivent!!! Et nous n'avons pas terminé notre foie gras... Le pain n'est toujours pas sur la table..ni le sel ni le poivre pourtant demander à 2 reprises..! Sans succès...

L'assiette de confit est quand même posé !!à côté de notre assiette de foie...non terminé... Elle va donc refroidir !

Sur notre table il y a encore les verres apéritifs ..pourtant que avons mis en bout de table pour faciliter la serveuse. Pour le moment 2 plats servis sur 5.. Une fois notre foie gras terminé..nous attendons les 3 plats manquants....... Les autres refroidissent... Sur notre table il y a encore les assiettes de l'entrée ! Avec les verres apéritifs..! Tout s'accumule en bout de table ! Une table qui ressemble à une vrai!..cantine ! La responsable vient nous voir et nous dit de nous calmer ! La serveuse est perdu les autres plats arrivent !d'après ces dires!!.. Pourtant de notre côté nous avons été tout à fait correcte et Très sociable malgré tout ! Puisque rien dit jusque là.. Nos voisins de table étaient très surpris de cette réaction non approprié ! Nous avons terminé nos assiettes et nous n'avions pas envie de rester...pour notre moment convivial en famille c'était trop agressif.. Bref! Un service lamentable je ne conseille pas du tout ce restaurant ! C'est dommage les produits sont très bons.. Nous sommes partis sans le dessert ! Ambiance 0 Quand aux photos sur le site elles sont à revoir car ne correspond pas du tout à la réalité ! Étant du Périgord nous connaissons très bien la région ! C'est la première fois que nous sommes déçus à ce point ! Nous n'y...

Nous avons bien mangé dans cet établissement qui est dans un très joli cadre . Cependant nous regrettons le comportement de la gérante "chef cuisinière" qui se plaint en traversant sa terrasse et en disant très fort : quelqu'un devrait s'installer ici et monter un Mac Donald's !! Car tout le monde commande des burgers !!" Dans ce cas là pourquoi mettre 2 types de burgers à la carte et sur un grand panneau snack panini 😳 De plus paiement uniquement en chèque et espèces !! Pas de carte de crédit acceptées ! C'est écrit en tt petit et jamais précisé. Enfin pour résumer on y mange bien mais pour l'ambiance vous n'entendrez que les cris et plainte de la gérante. Dommage pour la serveuse très soouriante,aimable et qui fait ce qu'elle peut. Si vous êtes étrangers prévoyez google traduction car la gérante ne parle pas un mot d'anglais !!! Un conseil passez ce restaurant et à 100 m plus loin il y a une super Guinguette où il y a de l'ambiance, des sourires et de bons produits. Ne vous fiez pas aux horaires mises sur internet ça ne correspond pas du tout , je pense que la gérante ouvre quand bon...
