An amazing meal in a beautiful setting! We were staying at Camping Le Paradis, about a 10 minute drive away and wanted to try authentic local cuisine somewhere not too touristy. Our experience couldn't have been more perfect. We booked for 7.30pm and arrived early which was a good job because the outdoor seating filled up quickly after we arrived and we were glad we had ordered early! All the food is cooked fresh daily by Janine, who we met when we arrived. Our waiter didn't speak much English, but with the help of Google translate, we managed to figure out the menu and inform him of my Daughter's nut allergy. There is a set menu, which everyone seemed to be going for but as we didn't want to eat foie gras we went for the a la carte. I chose the duck confit and my husband had the wild boar stew, both were served with parsley potatoes and were absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed local wine and beer and a delicious pear tart for dessert. The meal was excellent value for money and was one of the highlights of our holiday, I would highly...
Read moreThis gem of a place is tucked away on a hillside in the Vezère valley. It's French farmhouse cooking at the top of it's game. For those of us old enough to remember, it's reminiscent of Peter Mayle's tales of Provencal cuisine in his books. Unpretentious, uncomplicated and delicious. The focus is on local products and as this is the Perigord that means poultry and hearty pates and soups.
Mme Janine comes out personally greet the guests at lunch, despite her advanced years.
The location is stunning in the garden under the pear trees and the views over the valley are breathtaking.
The biggest suprise of all is the bill. A 5 course meal for me, a salad for my wife, wine and coffee for two came to less than €60...
In fact, you know what, forget I said anything. Don't come here at all. I want to keep this little gem of a...
